GPS Game Retrieval Systems

I haven't seen this talked about in a while and wonder if anyone has seen any new versions of game retrieval systems that use GPS type chips?
I remember seeing the 1st gen stuff but was wondering if anyone has heard of anything new or on the near horizon?
I just can't imagine why this is something that can't be figured out to help significantly cut down the number of lost animals.
Just curious on a day where I am working and not hunting.

I have never heard of anything using GPS chips for retrieval. How would they attached to the animal? It would seem to be an expensive system anyway.
