Shot this month, evidently there was an elk involved somewhere down the line!

I was elk hunting at the time, and I could only see a little less than this when I first spotted him sleeping at about 25 yards.

They say moose are pretty catholic in their tastes. Males occasionally hang around cows hoping for a little sumpin sumpin. Could you get a cow elk that's been eating some fermented berries, decides she could go for a little strange, next thing you know you have a real odd looking love child. A melk?

When they first introduced moose in Colorado they had a story about someone mistaking a moose for an elk. I thought how in the world could you ever mistake a moose for an elk. When I saw the picture of the moose the guy shot it had antlers just like the one you posted. Then I could see how the mistake was made. Especially since they were new to the area here.

Those are crazy looking!

I wonder if they are old bulls on the down side? or just the way they grew the year

Good luck, Robb

Here is one, smaller version, for the size of the body this guy should have had some paddles

Actually here in ID I've seen quite a few bull moose that look like they have elk antlers. I attributed it to younger bulls? They're pretty common. Congrats on your moose!

That is bizarre Newfie. I think I would have had to do a European mount on that guy.
