SW Montana Mule Deer

I'm headed back to SW Montana to try to punch my elk and or mule deer tag that I struck out on in September. I've never specifically targeted mule deer before. We've always just hunted elk and if we ran across a muley, then great. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a spot near Livingston, Bozeman, or Ennis? Also where will the deer be this time of year? I see that theres has been some snow. Will they have been pushed down low yet?
