Some of the bears we did not get
Bears
Contributors to this thread:
Hi all.
With booking season upon us and questions I get regarding sizes and numbers of our bears, I thought an interesting thread to run would focus on the bears we never did get, for one reason or another this last spring. Though we harvest 20-30% color phase bears and with that, the majority of the colored bears being cinnamon, big bears are there and though not behind every tree, we try to target them and these pictures for this spring even make my guides and me anxious to get out there and try for them. An 18-20" bear may be not impossible to kill and to the contrary, very doable. \let me tempt you with a few pictures before I head out to my Jeannine's Christmas party.
This was the first picture we got last spring and he never did shed those burrs.
This is the one we tried to put bowsiter Wapitiwoman on but never did
Pretty neat to know this boy's still there.
Nice bears, must take weeks to go through all the photos!
I does take a while to go through them, but these ones I saved as we found them after checking our cameras this past spring and we had these bears targeted for our hunters.
This is one of the bears I tried to put Ghostbird on.
Another one I had for Ghostbird. I know he likes the site, maybe this year.
This picture I saved just to show how odd the size of the head is compared to the body. I had to shoot a bear like this when I was guiding caribou hunters back in/92. That skull scored 22 8/16.
Look how they've flattened my barrel!
This bear has been avoiding me for 2 years. He did give one of our hunters fits a year ago when he laid down behind him and went to sleep and the guest listened to him snore for an hour.

I thought I'd close this thread with proof we do shoot big ones too. Though somewhere in this lap top are more pictures, I did not find them. We have a few openings for this spring and if you want to go to our auction thread, enter your bid, or contact us directly.
Thanks for following along.
Great picts... Once again, your guys are going to be into some great hunting this spring!
how big is the one you shot
I don't shoot bears 'Bou and neither do my guides. If we were to shoot one, that's one my guests would not have a chance at. I did ask Jeannine if she was interested in taking a bear for our cabin, and she said she was not, so guess we won't have one then.
That chocolate one looks to have a large noggin! I can't wait for spring. Good luck.
Nice bears Ron, as always. Looking forward to June 2016!
I sat one afternoon last year waiting on that chocolate boar. Dang wind did not cooperate to sit there after that. I'll be back this spring to complete the mission.
Ron, save that one for me!!! Ha, ha... just kidding, but not really...
Ghostbird........Really, I'll save it for you for the week you're coming. I have 40 sites, saving one is not a problem.
Yep, that chocolate snoring bear is a beauty!
I was excited for our bear hunt before this thread, but now I'm really excited! Can't wait for the Spring to get here! See you at the end of May Ron!
And Heath, those bears and more are asleep waiting for you to get to camp. I'm thinking this was about 2/3rds of the pictures we saved from this past spring. Hope you can fall asleep tonight. Ha!
Ron was that chocolate on the Frenchman Rapids bait?
Ron was that chocolate on the Frenchman Rapids bait?
Which chocolate? If you're referring to the monster laying facing the camera, that's on the Feather Bait. There was another picture of one at Frenchman Rapids, then another at Rick's Bait. If I knew where the colored bears run to, I'd sleep better at night. Those bears travel so much during the rut and generally all spring, it's only knowing there's a colored one there then he's gone, that we understand they are travelling looking for skirts. The black ones all look the same and we don't notice they are missing from a particular site unless he's a jumbo.
The chocolate with the river in the background
I just found this one from couple years ago and we never did get him. Maybe this year.
Aww man, I never should have looked at this thread. Now I feel like a high school boy when his girl tells him prom is the night, but prom is two months away! Ha!
Ghostbird, I promise I'll try not to shoot that big chocolate if I'm lucky enough to see him so you can have an opportunity. I won't promise how hard I'll try though!
Don't pass the big chocolate on my account!!!
... unless you would feel really bad about it.
We still have that white bear up there yet. I've never got a picture of it but the helicopter pilot told me he saw it with another monster black. I'd assume if was with another big bear, it was a sow. Before we had all these cameras out, I'd string a line of barbed wire near by to catch a bit of hair and over at the Ambush bait is where we got the white fur and the pilot saw it less that a half mile from there.
Wow! Awesome bears. I hope you get a chance at him this year, Andy!
I think I recognize some of those bait sites.
I know you recognize that giant cinnamon! You had to listen to him snore for near an hour one night.
You had to remind me. I obsessed over that bear. Still think of him often. Damnit.
This should get the Wounded Warriors coming pretty excited!! Thanks Ron
