Ne National forest wildfires/mule deer

I'm wondering how some of the areas in NW Nebraska which burned in 2012 are looking now. Are these areas primarily recovering as grass land or has a lot of brush/shrubs started to come back? I'm interested in respect to mule deer habitat and ease of spotting/stalking in these areas. The areas are nice and easy to find on GE and I'm trying figure out if I should be focusing on them scouting for a deer hunt this fall. Thanks!
