Pine Acres owns 5 pieces of large tracks of private lands used solely for whitetail hunting. We maintain preditors by getting my family to trap the wolves and keep the Whitetail population within my Whitetail lands healthy for years to come!!!
Here is a picture of my nephew Trevor Robinson of Quibell Ontario and his wife Ashley and kids Zackary and Owen River.
Trevor Traps only Private property within Wildlife Unit #8.
Heres another wolf from WMU #8.
Trevor has been trapping for just 2 years, still has a lot to learn about trapping but is a fast learner.
Trevor has guided for me in the past years. Trapping and guiding is his hobby, while working in the local granite mine.
We have some land set aside for our upcoming winter wolf hunt at the end of February. After the hunt we are going to trap the bait sites to get a few more wolves before the crust on the snow comes.
A picture of a 2015 NW Ontario Buck!!
One of the reasons we had a great Whitetail hunt is because of our predator control. This gentleman from Vermont comes year after year to NW Ontario for his Whitetail hunting habit!!
Shot while at our Mutrie River Outpost within WMU#8, 2015.
Not a large buck but made this hunter from Michigan happy!!
This hunter is booked again for 2016 whitetail season.
This young hunter from Tennessee took this whitetail during his 2015 November hunt off one of our deer leases. Pine Acres Camp.
Ontario has the second highest bear population in Canada, second to British Columbia. Pope and young bears, such as this one, roam all over Eastern Canada!!
This Ontario pope and young bear was aged at over 19 years old!!
Pine Acres Bear Camp has 9 large Bear Management Areas, now 3 of which are BOW ONLY!!!
We will be in Indianapolis this next weekend at the Indianapolis Boat, Travel and Sport Show.

Ever since I got this picture of this Red Fox and his meal of fresh Fawn, I take out any Red Fox when legally able.
All we need is to be able to stop this problem!!
This is where our wolf hunters will be staying at the end of the month. Quibell Lake Outpost.
Wolf hunt will be conducted beyond this gate on private and land locked crown land. About 1800 acres beyond this gate.
I have 2 bait stations here.
Wolves were really moving this afternoon. Tracks in every direction.
This afternoon I went and replenished my wolf sites.I parked the Tundra and walked into a bait station. I noticed all the bait was gone. I could see this 120 yards away from the site.
I then went to where the bait was and looked in the direction of where a wolf had dragged the deer carcass and there was a wolf staring me down.
He put his head down and gave a low growl. Luckily I had my camera and got a picture of this black, grumpy wolf!!
I could tell he thought I wanted his grub by the way he was acting. Just after I got the picture the whole pack let loose all around me. It was real cool and a little spooky.
He was laying on the deer carcass when I took this picture. Got this picture about 4:00 this afternoon.
This is the Quibell Lake Lodge. This is also where us guides stay during the wolf hunt.
Picture of the buck I took off this property about 8 years ago.
Love those wolf picts Chris (and the rest of them as well). I can't believe how well you guys do on the wolves. I can't even get a trail cam of a red fox here at home. 8~)
I have my camera on my side at all times!! Just lucky to be at the right place at the right time I guess.
This is AWESOME!!! 12 days and counting till I am up there. Tie that wolf to a tree for me Chris!
John, the picture of the live wolf was taken off the site saved for you. Lots of activity there.
To further help in predator control. In 2017 the OMNR will eliminate the requirement to buy a game seal for wolves.
Will still need a small game license and will be allowed 2 wolves. Awesome move on their part!!!
These wolves were shot off the same bait. One in the morning, other was in the afternoon.
That looks like a lot of fun! Do you guys do a bear/wolf combo or are those different dates?
We do wolf / Bear combo or wolf / Deer. Or just a fall wolf hunt.
Heres a bait where we tied a rib cage to a tree. This was a September combo hunt.
Next day we took this wolf off the above bait.
What's up with the collared dog with the fawn in it's mouth?
I was driving a back road and saw these dogs take out this fawn. I pulled over and yanked my camera off my side and got a bunch of pictures.
Dogs ran right to a guys porch and dropped the fawn. I gave the picture to a Consevation Officer and the dog owner was fined.
Just got an email from NOTO, Northern Ontario Outfitters Association that the announcement of the spring hunt will come any day now.
I will post as soon as it is announced, one way or the other. But spring hunt will happen!!!
Hey All, Full Spring nonresident Bear Hunt is back in Ontario! Chris is at a show and is taking bookings! Give him a call!
IT'S OFFICIAL!!!
Got got word from the OMNR that the Spring Hunt will comence in Ontario this Spring 2016.
May 1rst to June 15th.
Our Spring hunt is booked for 2016 but we are taking bookings for 2017. We are at the Indiana State Fair Grounds right now at the Boat and Travel Show.
There will be NO BAITING restrictions. Other than baits must be 200metres from any road way.
Oops... just posted on your other thread asking about the baiting restrictions and just saw your last post on this thread. Great news for sure!
Ibow, this spring Bear Hunt is going to be AWESOME!!!
First spring hunt since 1998, 18 years.
While at the Indiana boat, sport and travel show this afternoon, Brady went missing for about an hour.
He found the Bikini contest in the motor cycle section.
That a boy Brady! Proud of you.
An hour is much longer than I would've "lasted".
Wow some pretty cool pics . Cant wait until june me and 2 friends are going bear hunting at pine acres . I shot a 350lb chocolate two years ago . Gonna try my luck on a spring hunt this time.
Last year I started baiting in early May. I knew there was going to be a spring season in 2016.
Picture of 5 bears on one of our baits in our bow only area.
See you this spring Dave (mb650), going to be a blast!!!
On the way home I stopped and picked up bear bait from Lucky seven in MN. for this springs hunt.
Here is a cinnamon bear taken this last August 2015.
We have taken many coloured bears in the last 41 years of bear hunting at Pine Acres, Spring pre 1999 and fall.
Dark chocolate coloured bear. Archery.
Wow, lookin good, can't wait to get there this Spring and bloody my arrow!
Jeff, we'll try and get you one like this P&Y.
Pine Acres Bear Camp, 807-221 9793 or 1-800-757-2241 or 1-807-227-2073.
2017 bear hunts available.
email [email protected]
Camera's showed this bear was visiting the site on a routine basis.
After passing multiple bears he finally had an opportunity at this cinnamon bear.
This bear was taken during a morning hunt.
Dumped this wolf carcass out in front of the cabin when we got home. Didn't expect wolves to hit the wolf carcass.
It will attract lots of ravens and eagles, which in turn bring in the wolves.
Those are tracks of a wolf pack that routinely run the lake in front of the cabin. 300 yard shot.
This is a picture of a ground blind set up at one bait. Hunter has a heater set up inside. About 100 yard shot.
Back in early January we spent a whole day riding the sleds all over the bush. All trails were brought back to the bait sets. Wolves love running the snow machine trails.
Checked the bait set that offhntg will be hunting on Sunday. We baited it yesterday. Wolves wiped it out over night during the full moon.
Going to be a great hunt next week. I HOPE!!!
Here you can see tracks of a pack of wolves that walked right up to the blind off to the left of the trail.
Wolves during the full moon last night walked up to the outhouse at the outpost camp.
They are getting brave!!!
Wolves will have a feast tonight.
Good luck Spike....keep us posted!
Mark
Great picts. Love following this kind of thread. Keep us posted either way.
Reason the wolves are coming into the outpost camp #1 is we store bait there...#2 is the deer are hanging around camp as a safe zone.
Got a call today from another trapper. He had about 20 skinned beavers for us. Good thing as it is hard to keep 15 or so wolves fed. Road kills come in handy or hunt over a wolf kill deer.
I hope we are able to connect this coming week. I'll try and post all week long.
Here is John, OFFHNTG with Brady.
Snow Sunday and very windy most of the day Monday. Wolves laid low with no sign of movement. I decided to change tactics for Tuesday afternoon. Brady took him down to the river for some predator calling. To no avail.
While they were out calling I noticed wolves had crossed the road towards his bait site. I went into his bait and the wolves had visited his site while he was with Brady.
So far there has been wolf activity at Johns bait but so far we have been unable to put a wolf in front of him.
He still has another day of hunting. John worked on our suggestions and weathered -35 weather.
Wolf scat full of deer hair.
These deer were bedded behind the outpost cabin.
Today was the start of a new week of wolf hunting. Hunters arrived at noon and after having lunch we went out to the outpost.
After settling in we went out to the baits. I was able to see that a wolf was coming out to a high ridge where he was over looking the bait and blind. So we tried an ambush.
IT WORKED!!!! Finally.
The other hunter was in his blind when a pack of wolves let loose about 100 yrds from his blind. It woke him up fast!!!
On stand at 2:00 had his wolf by 3:30 pm.
I don't know why I subject myself to reading this post. I love it every time just makes me want to book a hunt but the wife says no maybe next year.
Very cool Spike! Congrats!
As much as I want to say this is COMPLETE BULLSH!T Chris, I must say CONGRATS to the hunter! As well as to you and Brady. That hunter had been on 5 wolf hunts prior, so he earned it. Last week was my first and by the end of the week I had only logged around 50 hours in a blind. The morning temps were -12, -14, -30, -32, and -32 so that should get me bonus points for next time. This hunter went and sat for 2 hours in 57 degree sunshine and "Ka-BOOM". Done deal. I will be back. It was interesting learning the habits, movements, and behaviors of wolves. Chris knows his wolf hunting. Congrats again guys and thanks for a fun week!
John
John H., after 5 wolf hunts, finally tagged out during his first trip to Pine Acres!!
There is a lot of luck involved!!
It's a breeding, mature female.
Spikebuck,
Being a licenced outfitter can you not put down a fawn killing dog if you catch it in the act? Both dogs are not leashed and whoever took the picture looks like they were extremely close and in a vehicle when they took the picture. Being a retired officer I believe I would be acting within the law by protecting our wildlife. I would dispatch the dog and then call the local game warden to track down the owner...looks like one owner for both dogs.. Maybe I am way off on this one but in some areas dogs are a real problem.
Hope you have a very successful and safe Spring hunt.
Rockbass, the only ones able to shoot dogs running at large are CO's or police officers. I took the pictures just as they caught the fawn.
I gave the pictures to one CO, but he was a friend of the dog owners so he gave the case to another CO who charged the dog owner.
Spike buck,
Thanks for the info. Must be frustrating trying to manage the wildlife and some neighbor lets his dogs run wild and do that. To bad they never ran in front of your truck!
From another Ontario resident thanks for all your stories and pictures. Always enjoyed your posts.
Thanks Rock Bass.
The picture of the fox was taken when I was driving down a logging road. I jumped out after putting the truck in park, pulled out the camera and ran down the fox.
I assume the fox came across the doe just as she dropped the fawn, ran in and grabbed the fawn. The fox was dragging the after birth!!
Fox, wolves and dogs. Whitetails have a harsh life!!
