How to attach warthog skull halves?Contributors to this thread:
I'm finished whitening my warthog skull and am ready to attach the halves and mount it on a homemade Skullhooker type mount. I've epoxied deer and hogs in the past but this one is much heavier. What do you guys use? Thanks!
Brass wood screws. Forrest
Bondo works well.
Are you talking about putting screws through the joint at the top back of the lower jaw through the rounded part where it touches the underside of the skull?
Yes, drill the hole small so the screw gets good and tight. if you have some epoxy put it on your screws and in the hole, you can clean up epoxy with white vinegar while it is wet . Forrest
jasper, also put a dab of 5 minute epoxy where the jaws touch. pre fit ,then let the epoxy start to set before you apply, makes less of a mess. Forrest
Got it done. Thanks!
Lets see a pic Jasper. I just got my Africa stuff back & the warthog skull is going to be bleached shortly.
