We want to wish everyone a happy Easter we hope u all have a great day. We want to thank Jesus again for Dying for our sins and rose in 3 days this time of year. So we may have salvation if we follow him. There is I believe 2800 square kilometers in the Riding Mountains where there is no hunting allow, its a good sanctuary and breeding grounds u just never know whats going to come out of there boone and pockets and boone and crockets.

Greg how many walley did u hook they are tasty in cold water, wanted to get out again just to many things on the go. Roose I think the bear are moving already with the mild temps when they will start eating anyone's guess, I think your close with the 7-10 day they will be looking.

The Bears went back to sleep it's been cold here and will be for the rest of the week 25 fh this morning. There is 3 elk in the field if u can pick them out. That's the only ones I seen on our new place last October on different occasions.

We were thinking of bunk beds but decided against after a bit of feed back from one of the guys, we have two beds and want to get a couple fold away cots, is there any comfortable cots out there that u can sleep 6 nights on without getting a sore back? We have never had cots lots of u guys have used them what's your thoughts or suggestions on them would greatly be appreciated. God bless have a great day.

The camp pics is Allan the brother inlaw and sister Celina and a war vet he had brought along, we were camped in the Riding mountains for a few days late last fall. On night it got down to -10 all I had was a light tent and an old three star sleeping bag with no zipper and a little heater blowing on top of me and I darn near froze that was the coldest night ever for me sleeping outside.

Monday we can start on the baits along the mountain there won't be nothing moving with this weather another week for sure before they start moving I figure. It will be good hides for the most part by the end of next week maybe we will have some hits. Your hunt is coming quick we will keep in touch. The cabin is pretty much done it won't be licensed for the spring the fall I am hoping. We have a couple nice campers for you's to stay in u will like. Can't wait to get at the bear steak. See u soon

Thanks Brotsky,we were up in the new area yesterday setting up a few more spots that look promising, checked a few of our regular baits this morning.There is some bear moving for sure one camera was on video got a big black on it in the night, got another pic of a black in the night on another stand,got a few pics of bear on another bait. Allan will pull some cards tonight on the other baits, some other baits were hit with no cameras. more cameras on the bucket list.

Alexis, looks like a pretty good colored in the dark there. Hope he's still around in another couple weeks. Get yourself some permethrin and spray it on your clothes and boots. Let it dry and it will last for weeks or 4-8 washings. Whichever comes first. Makes a world of difference keeping ticks off you. You should be able to order it through amazon or Cabelas.

Ok thanks Joe, they don't bother me much, some of the bear hunters don't like them much. Most of the baits were hit this week it will be good hunting early this year. I got some more licenses this month if anyone is interested for this spring or this falls hunt, if there is only one or two of u we can pretty much take u any week. jmail 20, does that spray really dry scent free? I'd love to pick some up to treat my clothes, but I am worried about the scent issue especially with spring bears. Any problems with bears or deer busting you while using it?

Josh, It really is scent free. At least I can't smell it. I have been using it for the last 3 years spring bear and I've never been busted because of it. The stuff I use is made by Sawyer and works great. Got it through Amazon.com

Joe, that sounds good to me. I will have to pickup a bottle to take to camp this year. I will be a little further north in Manitoba but if the ticks are bad I wouldn't mind having a scent free solution. I hate those little SOBs.

Sawyer permethrin spray works well but even better is their "Saturation" kit. You get a bottle of solution and a plastic bag in the kit. I put a shirt, pants, and a pair of socks in the bag then add the solution and water per instructions to the bag. Seal the bag (It has a sealing system) and let the clothes soak for a few hours. Take the clothes out and let them air dry. I have yet, after several years of use, to have a tick attach and have only once or twice found one crawling on me. The treatment seems to last at least 4-5 washings. The kits are available on the internet.

Wish u could of been here to help Greg u don't want to be moving them stands around they are tough to put up. But lots of room on them there a little wider than factory, I think they will be good. We will see what the feed back will be on them this year I will build more if they are ok.

I never thought of rug on it I will find some, went and did the new baits today very happy with them they were all hit, one of the new ones on my sister and husbands place it wasn't a week old does a bear crap in the woods no doubt on that stand. The boys are going to make the hair fly in a few days, bear steak this week. Randy we will see u in a few days have a safe trip. I am excited for this weeks hunt the lord willing it will be a good one.

Sorry no picks for u today I was going to do baits and Alan was ambitious yesterday and did the rest, should have some pics on Monday. There was a black bear in Aprils field today tried to get within 400 yards no way I was about 600 and he seen me and took off, that story that bears don't see that good its a story they see very good.

Chad killed a nice big black with the bow I did not get a pic of him and his bear just the bear hope someone else did he weighed 330 lbs we figure he was heavier our old scale is getting Wore we figure but they can be deceiving. We got to bed at 2am she is going to be a loooooong day. Going to look for a bear and feeding them again today, beautiful day in Manitoba. The 6 guys seen over 20 bear last night good number for the beginning of the season. Hope u and us have a beautiful day.

Thanks guys, well another dead bear in Manitoba a good 225lb black, Steven took him out he will have some good bear meat. Two more for the week everyone seen bear again tonight we will see what tommorow brings for bear. Good night all.

Rattles33 I have been thinking about what u asked for I feel for u when u don't have high speed, I prefer not to break up the thread I hope u can still manage to look once in a while. I do nt have high speed either it's a little frustrating trying to post pics on bowsite at times, but with a little patience it gets done. The boys are up in the stand just waiting for a bear to skin. U all have a great evening

We are having problems with cards , cameras this year I don't know whats going on but frustrating. Alan I think bought 5 new moultries there is only one he got pics from so far, the bears are realy starting to clean out the bait the numbers are getting higher at the stands.

Another dead Riding Mountain bear Tom got it done last night roughly 250 beautiful chocolate, he seen the big boy dark chocolate also would not come in he has a 11 inch back pad. One guy left for tonight last kick at the cat. u all have agreat day.

Thanks Onetohunt, we had some fun that's what its about having a great hunt and fellowship. Well its Mothers day u all treat your wives like queens today I know I will, will take her out for supper. A couple of the guys will be pulling in around 6oclock we will ask them to join us on our supper date. Yous all have a good Godly day. Good morning everyone, we are loaded up with bikes and bait this morning waiting for the boys to get here. We are going to hunt the new baits tonight the two guys I have, never hunted bear before we will see what we can find them. They got to see a nice black last night at the camp so the anticipation is high I think. Wish them luck, Alan has 3 guys this week I think we will be skinning a few bear. The boys are holding out they all seen bear last night waiting for a good one. One thing about hunting along a 2800 square kilometers National park with no hunting at all allowed you will never run out of bears and big bears. Looks like we may see some sun in Manitoba today, I think we will be skinning a few tonight.

We had fun this morning doing the new baits, took the Argo and the quad the boys got to drive it was a lot nicer than riding the back rack. This guy come and payed us a visit while we were baiting that was exciting at 10 yards. We will what the boys see tonight.

There was one year the guys killed mostly sows there was not many boars we never did figure out the meaning of that either, someone told us if there is more sows than boars the population is going down but was not to be because the population has been getting higher.

The guys that want a color have a real good chance of getting one, the outfitter we bought from told me there was a few years back in the day when u had a hard time getting a black hard to believe. Ok Dconcrete, Well we had a good better than average night, two giants didn't make it one with the bow and the other with the muselloader. One was shot at 9.10 the other at 9.15 and listen to this they both exactly weigh in at 435 lbs, what's the chances of that happening on the same night same hour same weight that was unreal I still can't get over that what a night. I tell u there is two happy hunters, and the rest of the group are happy for them that's what it's about. We gutted them out last night we will get some pics this morning foggy out today hope the pics turn out. We will get back on here soon as a can its going to be another busy day still two guys to get bears we will keep working till they all get there tag filled. U all have a great day.

Those are GREAT bears Alexis. I hunted the south border of Riding Mountain last week and the big one's just weren't out and about much and when they were they were VERY inconsistent. Great job.

Thanks guys,We have a bear story from one of the guys last night. I droped him off at around 5 oclock got him in the stand he got himself set up it was raining a bit he sat till 6;30 he had a hanger that was not quite big enough to hold his shooting equipment he decided he was going to put a bigger hanger up. It was plenty early it should be ok to get up and change that, he got his hanger changed and before he turned around to sit back down he turned his head and there he was walking in the bait the giant of a lifetime, he got a glimps of what he though was the sow to the side she spooked and took off on the dead run, and he turned and looked towards the stand and in two jumps he disappeared he was sick. He kept saying last night if would of just waited a few more minutes it could of been the closeing deal. He has been on 10 bear hunts I think he said, he has never seen a bear close to the size of what he seen last night, that's how fast it happens I feel for the guy. We are back at it today looking for two more bear, both the boys seen four bear each last night pretty desent for a rainy night.

Bummer. Sometimes they are so quiet coming in, you never hear or see them until they are right on top of you, especially in dense bush/brush. And to add the sound of light rainfall...

There was a few for sure Chuck its nice for the hunters to see a few colors, we are blessed no doubt. The boys are still AT IT THEY PASSED ON THE BEARS LAST NIGHT one guy seen 5 and Grape seen 8 and a shooter 300 plus he says, he had the cross hairs on him but didn't pull the trigger it was close he said, I think his hearths set on a giant. I don't know anyone else that would pass on a 300 plus bear. The last night for the boys hoping for a good outcome and a safe one. u all have a great day

Well one more bear didn't make her at the Desjardins camp nice color shot by Mark, it looks like that's it for the spring hunt we had a great time and good fellowship we are thankful the good Lord kept us all safe on this springs hunt. Grape passed on the bears he will be back in the fall to try her again, We still have a few spots left for the fall hunt come on out and have some fun with the bears. Thanks again guys for the kind words, on a little holiday with the wife getting rested up. Was looking back at the bears the gang shot this spring, there is quite a few that will make 18 inches plus and there is a couple that might make it over 21 inches we will wait for the official score, we are happy the boys and gal connected on some very respectable bears this spring. 19 dead bear, 2 guys passed , 16 boars and three dry sows and not one lost that's performance my hats off to our hunters good job everyone that's what we like to see.
