South of the Denali Hwy. From media description of it being ~MP 68, that would put it several miles west of the McLaren River in GMU 13E.
This was awesome moose country before ADFG let the brown bear and wolf population explode by promoting a far too conservative bear harvest strategy.
I guided in the Alphabet Hills in the 70's and 80's. For years there was nearly NO calf survival and recruitment suffered. Now it sports a year round bear season! That is helping a bit, but the moose hunting is nowhere near what it once was.

It was not in the alphabet hills. It was north of the Denali hwy, closer to the south side of the Alaska range. Unless there had been more than one already?

The title suggest numerous bear maulings happen every year!
Is that the case? What's the yearly average?

The bear in the first mauling was killed by a Hunter, possibly the victim's hunting partner.
