Wyoming Results?
Wild Sheep
Contributors to this thread:
Other than for elk, Wyoming generally posts a week or more before the originally announced date, which this year is May 10, I think.
The Commission met last week, so that's done.
What's your best guess as to when we'll see the results for the sheep draw?
I was just thinking about that and almost had a panic attack that I missed the MT deadline. I'll go with 5/5.
Kyle--last one of us to draw our WY tag buys the lucky tag holder a good bottle of wine to enjoy his Bighorn steaks with? I believe we are dead even with 16 points?
Steve,
I'll take that bet!
Unless at least two 'new' people with as many or more points as I have show up in the unit I applied for this year than did last year, I'll get a tag!
When is the Montana deadline?
Tom- MT deadline for S-M-G is 5/2
Kyle- hopefully we didn't apply for the same unit. I have 16 too and chose a unit that I haven't in the past. Good luck to all!
Points only for me this year with 16. Good luck for the guys that are in the loto!
"Unless at least two 'new' people with as many or more points as I have show up in the unit I applied for this year than did last year, I'll get a tag!"
I had a similar sentiment last year, and 5 guys leapfrogged over me, leaving me tagless. So good luck!
This year I am trying another strategy, which includes not being optimistic.
I too am feeling it this week-------->
Good luck, Robb
They're not up as of 1420 MST on Wednesday. Has anyone heard anything?
Results come out on the 10th
The 10th is the date they said they'd be posted when we applied.
Yet experience shows WY has always posted well prior to such date.
I'm surprised they not only haven't posted, but as yet, they haven't even noted when they will post, which they usually do a day or two in advance.
They always post before the scheduled date. I'm guessing Friday.
Hope so. I'm wanting to see the results!
My guess is they'll be posted May 10. That's a long wait!
May---- could be a huge tag draw month with Wyo Sheep Moose Goat, Utah mid-month 'hits' and Nv. end of month results !!!
Good luck, Robb
Colorado too. May is definitely the month. It's only a matter of for whom. Hoping my 3 year drought ends. Just one lucky draw will do.
Maybe with all the budget cuts this year, the G&F decided to sit on all the tag fees a little longer to wring a little more interest out of them:)
i just got an error message when I clicked the link to their draw results page. Maybe they are uploading the results!
Working OK at my end. Still only shows NR elk and spring turkey. ;^(
I just talked with my contact @ WYOGA and she's going to call her contact at the WY DFG draw to get the latest, then call me back in the morning. I'll post as soon as I hear from her.
Thanks Kyle
Good luck, Robb
Well, NUTS!
From WY DFG:
"Dear Kyle,
Due to new quality check procedures we are no longer releasing draw information early. The results will be available on May 10th at 10am."
Kyle, on a good note they did increase the amount of sheep tags!
It's WAY past 9 am out there...
The 10th, Steve, not the 6th! :^)
Dang. That was not there when I posted:-)
There used to be a back door for deer and antelope thru the treasurers repost. I wonder if that would work for sheep refunds some vendor report.
I thought for sure it would be posted today also, Wednesday seems a long time from now, dang!
"The 10th is TUESDAY! lol"
Awright! Not so bad!
This reminds me of when I was five years old on Christmas Eve.
Oh, well, at least now I won't be checking the WY website every twenty minutes.
Yep, but I'll be in a meeting till about noon, sitting in agony.
Just make an excuse for a pee break at 1030
Mine is up. Another unsuccessful!!!
Went to back to check for a buddy and got the draw results are being uploaded.
critrgitr,
Where did you find the results? I can't see them.
Sounds like they just accidently opened the portal for a moment. It's closed.
Idyll, that's my guess too. I went in like always and filled out the form with name, birthdate, and zip and it popped up 2016 non resident moose unsuccessful. My computer froze up and when I got I restarted to lookup a results for a buddy the entry page was gone and the current message was there. Should have waited til tomorrow to keep the dream going for another day!!

I was given a way to see the post-draw odds by a great friend. That shows I have a good chance of drawing, but nothing more.
Good luck, point creep edged me out again.
So the draw's been done for 6 days...
Point creep got me again; that creep with one more point than I have!
I've already seen that, but while it shows I have a 50% chance of having drawn, it does not tell me if I'm one of the lucky 50%!
The draw was done on the 3rd. They've spent the time since then doing checks of the accuracy of the results to ensure they are accurate when they post.
How bout non res bison odds?
If any of my buddies draw a Bull Buff----they are going to be very lucky!!
Thanks for the links Greg
Good luck, Robb
Non res moose pref point odds?
Bill, see my first post above. Good luck today!

Congrats Kyle! How many points?
Congrats Kyle!! What area?
Unsuccessful here. Grats to those who drew.
The first thing I saw was my successful elk app and thought it was moose - got a quick adrenaline rush there.
Congrats Nva. It's broke now so I can't check mine.
Another moose refund check in the mail.
Unit 8/23.
I had 16 points. Ain't got none now! lol!
I was planning to do 'point only' again, but then realized Unit 8/23 looked as if I might be able to draw. At age 67, even though I'm in great shape, you never know what might happen. I wanted to do it while I still can.
The downside was success rates in the unit were in the low-mid 60's. So I decided to find out why that was.
I made a few phone calls and talked to three outfitters who are permitted there, then talked to a lot of their references.
Non-residents were 19 for 20, while residents were 9 for 13. That did not surprise me at all. In every sheep state, lots of casual hunters apply for sheep simply because it's on the application when they apply for deer, elk and antelope. When they draw, they have no idea what they're in for and no idea how to go about it, so go into the hunt physically and mentally unprepared and can't handle the challenge.
The unit is probably the most physically demanding unit in WY, which added to the appeal for me and which also explains the lower success rates than you see in other units. It's purely a back pack hunt with long, brutal climbs from base camp. You hunt at 12,000' or higher!
Last year there was one guy apply with 16 points and three guys who applied with 15 points. Three of those four drew. So I knew I'd draw the tag for sure unless at least two new guys showed up with 16 or more points. Four more showed up, knocking my draw odds down to 50%. Fortunately, I was in the lucky half and drew the tag.
Steve,
You owe me a bottle of fine wine! LOL!
Congrats Kyle.
What a surprise for me. USUC for bison. Back to my trophy turkey hunting tomorrow. That is the only thing I can draw a tag for lately.
Good luck.

Awesome Kyle
0 for 3 for me
Happy to do it! We will figure something out...
Make sure to post up all the hunt and I will make sure there is something nice to go with your tenderloin dinner.
Congrats Kyle, I hope to draw by the time I'm 67.
congrats Kyle!!! Good luck on the hunt
Congrats Kyle.
I drew zippo!
I keep going back to the WY website to make sure they haven't changed their mind.
The final confirmation for me is that my preference points for sheep are at ZERO!
Drew cow bison. Last year's 7 1/2 year old cow is tasting great can't wait to get mine.
I drew a nonresident bull bison tag. Hoping to get it done with the bow!
Starting to train in Jan was a great idea as unit 5 is a reality after 20 years. The task ahead is as daunting as it is exciting.
Congrats to Kyle and everyone who drew. No luck for me.
glunker,
Congratulations! Let's see photos and the story come this fall.
Unit 5. Nice! Go Midwestern boys!
Congrats guys, and good luck
bill v
The "unsuccessful" start rolling in!
Results are out. Drew a unit 26 moose tag
Grats TradMike! How many points?
Congrats on the tag! What are the archery success rates like in that area? Or is it rifle only?
Congrats you lucky ones!! haha
Anyone need any info on Bison (I have 7 of the last 8 years up there) reach out for sure
Moose in 26 or 23 I hunt the overlap elk units 9 out of the last 10 years and I drew elk again this fall, feel free to touch base with me.
Happy for all that drew!
Good luck, Robb

Thanks for the encouragement. Plan to be there middle of August prior to archery opening to get in a couple days of scouting. Maps to order and a lot of calls to make to develop a plan. This is going to take some research.
Dan J,
To my knowledge, only one ram has been taken by an archer in my unit. Others have tried and gone at it long and hard but weren't able to tag out with their bows.
You are the man for the job.
Congratulations Kyle! Good luck!!
glunker,
If I can be of any assistance with your training, I'd be happy to do so. Wisconsin is rather lacking in 10,000' peaks. Wyoming is not. ;^)
So are you going to be number 2 with a bow? or just leave it at home. Congrats on the tag
Let it go, Dan. Please.
This my life and my tag, not yours.
It's for real! My WY sheep tag arrived in the mail today!
I love Wyoming ! I drew my moose tag in 2014, and drew unit 7 for Elk and a Bull Bison tag this year! I just need a sheep tag soon, got 16 points now, so looking to Kyle for some advise in the future.
That's great, get some blood on it!
Redman,
PM me re. "How To Do It!" (draw the tag)
I drew my WY Moose tag in 2001 and my three points put me in the Max Point group, believe it or not!
One arrow, 15 yards, on the first morning of the hunt!
