I'm wanting to book a mountain caribou hunt in the next few years and wondering if anybody has any suggestions on whom to book with.

Any info or recommendations would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Arctic Red River instantly comes to mind.

MacKensie Mountain outfitters Stan Stevens is another one that comes to mind.

Ramhead Outfitters, Stan Simpson, NWT Hunted with them in 2014.

Lots of big mtn bou and a first class operation.

PM me if you'd like any more details.

MMO for sure. Do your research on the outfitters in the NWT before booking with anyone else.

I'd add Gana River to the list, they kill some really nice bou and run a top notch operation.

I hunted and killed a nice mtn caribou last fall with YBGO.

Send me a PM and we can talk about the great experience.

Can't go wrong with any of the above. Strongly second Mark's recommendation on the Simpsons. I am booked for 2018 for MC and Moose. Have taken sheep and MC with them already. Great operation and great people.

Hate to piggy back on this but seems a good place to get this answered. For Mountain Caribou with archery gear, what is the absolutely BEST choice time to go if all dates were open?

are all these outfitters very good with bow hunters?

SteveB...IMO, early, up high would be my choice for archery. They'll still be in velvet, but more "approachable"...

Toby...I think all of the outfits above do pretty well with bowhunters. I took mine with Arctic Red and I know the early hunt with them is phenomenal.

I guess these 3 are also very good for dall sheep, correct?

I would second Kota-man with the early time frame. Took mine in August with Gana River. I think about any of those outfitters in the Mackenzie Mountains will be great. Here is a picture of the caribou at the skinning shed at Gana.

The bulls were pretty easy to approach at that time of year. Those bulls were from the week before. I shot mine the next day.

I've been looking at doing a MT Caribou for years, Just can seem to justify the cost for the single species hunt of a Mt Caribou. IT really pricy

You could buy a raffle ticket from P&Y...

I shot mine many years ago at O'Grady Lake with NWT Outfitters, I know the outfit was sold sometime after I hunted there but believe they are still in business under the same name.
