Going to hunt elk in unit 15 in New Mexico mid September this year. I was wondering if I get lucky and get an elk with A few days leftover, is it reasonable to attempt bear hunt with hounds? is this a good time of year? I won't know til the time gets here, but Would I even be able to find someone to take me last minute for say 2-3 days? Are there decent numbers of bears in that area. Any feedback on September bear hunting in that area would be great. Even some recommendation if you have some. Thanks

You can't hunt bears in NM with dogs during the bow hunt or in September. Sitting a water hole or a gut pile is your best option.
