Next weekend the boys will start to come for there fall bear hunt. Got 12 baits out this week the Bears seem to be around walk by one of my baits last night one black on it got that nice fall shine to him. Lots of berries this year hoping the boys get to see a few. It's been a wet summer here the Argo came in handy the other day on a few of the baits. You's all have a great evening.
Awesome scenery!! Good luck with the Fall season.
Thanks Spike, I seen you areoff to a good start. We did a 5 day trip in the mountain last week the grandson had the reins for a ways.
A couple of my nieces and a neighbours daughter they had a blast the kids on our trip.
Great Picts Alexis - life in Manitoba. Pretty cool. Grandkid's are pretty awesome to. 8~)
Grandkids are special for sure Chuck. busy week coming up keeping the bears feed and other stuff to do before the hunters come, as u get older the weeks fly by it seems and not much work gets done.Have a great day all.
Best of luck Alexis! Looking forward to seeing how things go for your fall hunters. Hopefully that fatty gives one of them a shot! Thanks for posting!
Thanks Brotsky hope all goes well with your hunts this fall. Some of the baits I did this week really hitting good some not so good quite a few pics just bears, cameras on the ground one chewed up back to the drawing board with some of my cages I built, they have all day to try figure out how to get the camera raskals.
We had another 1.5 inches of rain yesterday just no let up on the rainy season a difficult year for the guys making hay, could be worst like some places that got flooded out
same here in Wisconsin day after day
shes a dirty one ey zebrakiller, just changed to windows 10 last month thought I had moved pics from cards to computer the other day cant find frustrating
Going to do some more baits today see what happening, try the transfer thing again today when your from the old school not easy to figure these computers out.
Its sunny this morning in Manitoba hope it stays around for a month or so the farmers can get there crops off. Lots of late crops this year cause of the wet spring, pray that the frost stays away for awhile also.
Yous all have the best day possible,
Hope I don't have to send anybody home with a pile off this next week.
The baits on most part are very active as of now, they are up in the trees trying to get some oak nuts I seen today.
Its raining again today here ehsh.
They are eating a lot right now hope they continue for a couple more weeks.
Had a pic of a black bear with a lot of old blonde hair on him yet surprised he didn't turn brown from blonde strange how them young bear change colors.
No Giants on camera yet, in the fall if they start coming to the feed u can useually get to see them.
It was raining out so I thought good time to post pics, with the action at the baits this week a little excited to get the guys up in the stands. But a hot bait can go cold pretty fast in the fall I have seen it before, u cant compete with natural goodies if they decide that's what they want.
Still have one bait to do but its still raining I may leave it till tomorrow.
Grape just got back from Ontario today, they killed some bear he said, I think they had a good trip. he is consentrating on Manitoba next week he says. He is trying hard to kill a giant hope he gets one next week. Two of his buddies in the spring here killed two 435 lbders the same weight same day, still cant get overthat.
There is a few browns around one of the guys is looking for a color.
The bear will be tasty with all the fruit this year.
Cannot believe all the colored you have Alexis. Amazing!
Theres one with the mange.
I bought 4 Moultrie minis not imprest with the pic colors don't know if theres a setting on them for that.
Nice to see bear pics, or any pics of wildlife I am glad people take the time to post some enjoy looking at them, I hardly ever say anything but enjoy looking.
Yes Chuck hope there is still some next week for the guys, we are blessed with the Riding Mountains right at our door step, hunting along it, camping in it love it.
Didn't put any cameras at our new south baits this spring but I have some out there now, the bears were hard on them they have a few war wounds they were busy trying to chew them up.
This windows 10 really threw a loop in me trying to figure things out, if I would of know what I was getting into I would not of changed.. ITs stinking just pouring out.
The good thing about this rain it will turn to snow in a month or so.
Well we will call it a night, Good night all.
Looks like quite a bit of activity at the baits already. I'm sure that colored bear at the cabin will be in trouble with one of the new guys. If you have any more trouble with windows 10 just give me a call and I'll walk you through it.
Thanks Joe, I am not too computer wise I will probably take u up on that. There's a few colors at the cabin ones a sow though without Cubs. Hope your day goes well Joe.
Just a little scenery for those who have never been to Manitoba
These pics are off the creek on the north bait.
Trail coming out of the cabin bait the Beavers are useing it as a dam they will have to be evicted soon.
She is not raining this morning in Manitoba ??
Love the Picts. Looks so green. Lots of rain here in West MIchigan as well. Can't remember a summer when everything looked so green at this time of year.
I always enjoy looking at your pics Alexis, thx for sharing. Wish I was one of the hunters this fall!
She's been a wet one for quite a few in the world this summer Chuck, To bad u could not of come Ron it was a good price, may get into the deer hunts again still thinking about it, have to talk to a few people to see if they would lease out some deer hunting land.
She's bag filling day today
She's bag filling day today
And the full ones are heavy! Lots of hard work there!
Remember this David? (Rattling Junkie) I still think you put too much in those bags! 8~)
Haha, the guy filling those bags is smarter than I am. Work smarter not harder, right?
A guy gets a workout hauling them bags around eh boys.
One bait to do that I did not get, Saturday back at thebaits again they will be good till Monday some of the boys start
Beautiful day here, just finished cutting grass, heading to the mountain after supper to cut the grass and finish that bait, got company still never got there.
The baker was at it today getting ready for the crew, I always say if we can't send them home with a bear we will send them home full.
Wow.... Looks great! Great picts. Love these kind of threads - so much more that goes on behind the scenes with bear hunts.
Yes u have to get prepared way ahead of time doing this kind of stuff so u don't get caught behind the eight ball, cause once the guys get here there is no time to do much but bait and hunt.Yep I love it.
These ones are from what we call the hill bait.
The bears are thick right now hopeing they stick around another 10 days.
Everything looks so green...maybe it's the new cameras?? Any mosquitoes in all that green??
Looks good Alexis, Monday can't come soon enough.
Its still green here but the new cameras the color is not right, thermacell for sure Greg. Dave thanks and u start hunting Monday too, wish u a safe hunt and a safe one. take care guys.
Monday is coming fast the anticipation getting stronger, hope we have a great week.
Alexis, lots of color phase bears. Is that the same bear multiple times or do you have lot's of color phase bears. Been my experience that it is unusual for Manitoba. Have shot a number of bears but like many others not a chocolate or blonde. Do you see many color phase bears? Love Manitoba. Best deer hunting I ever had.
There might be a couple pics of the same bear TC but no we have quite a few colors in this area, western part Manitoba on west side of lake Manitoba lots of colors and further north past the agriculture lands less colours. Which part did u hunt for bear?
Here is ablonde from spring he maybe brown or black or still blonde this fall crazy how there colour change on the young ones.
Its raining again in Manitoba craziness.
The last two pics are from the new baits we got this year they are producing
Great picts, beautiful bears as usual Alexis. Thanks for taking the time to post. Love these kind of threads.
Glad u enjoy the pics Chuck, we're off shortly to feed the Bears. U all have a Blessed day.
She was a beautiful day today in Manitoba, were all set for Monday the bears are fed the guide is pooped.
pulled the first card out brought my card reader there was 774 pics I thought I will be all day just reading cards, I only have too extra cards so I just change 2 cameras today will have to sort through the other 10 cards next week, a good problem to have.
Good old bushnell have to reset the time on that one.
Theres two chocolates on this stand
There not big but nice bears.
Three guys coming in today, new guys, looks like sun for a few days that will be great let things dry up some.
Yous all have a great day. God Bless
Nice bear Pig Doc, have a fun hunt in Manitoba.
Shes a sunny day in Manitoba we finished some baiting had lunch now were waiting for the boys to come back, were going to head out to the stands.
There is some dandy bear around.
Probably that big one standing up and another both shooters no doubt
Looks like your ready to go. Good luck and have a safe season!!
Alexis, I used to hunt for about 5 years about 40 km NW of Neepawa, but outside of the Riding Mtn. National Park. A young guide started in the area based on relationships he had with local farmers. Terrific hunting the swamps around the tremendous fields in the area. Guide left about 4 years ago and went north supposedly to guide caribou and moose. Never heard from him again.
Saw 8-10 bucks every year that were 170+ class. Chess match to figure out where they would enter a field on a given night.
Was it sandulac, or Dave Doan, or mccrory. It had to be one of those guys. Good area for wildlife for sure I am 50 miles from Neepawa.
The boys killed a couple chocolate boars tonight pretty bears pics tommorow.
Here's Duane with his chocolate bear, there are rare in his country of southern Wisconson
Jake took a nice chocolate also from Wisconson, they both came for a coloured bear and they got them. One more guy left for tonight.
Congrats to the Wisconsin boys!! Good luck tonight...
Better hurry and get here Greg the boys from wisconson will have all the bears in the freezer
Nice work Alexis! Congrats to the gentlemen from WI on a couple beautiful bears!
Alexis, turns out the town I used to hunt out of was Edrans, just a bump in the road. I may be interested next year if my fellow Wisconsinites don't shoot them all. How do I get in contact? Love Manitoba.
Thanks Brotsky, Edrans never heard of the place TC,
Thanks Brotsky, Edrans never heard of the place TC,
Congratulations!! Couple of beautiful dark chocolates. That color can be hard to come by.
Another chocolate didn't make it in Manitoba, Gerald got it done tonight. The boys killed some nice colors so far this week. 3 more guys starting tommorow a lot of bear at the baits the nuts are t falling to bad yet.
This is the chocolate bear crew they all killed one chocolate, happy bunch and great guys. A new crew starting today 3 guys grape hasn't gotten here yet this afternoon.
Thanks Jmail, there is quite a few chocolate around this fall some years they are hard to come by.
Alexis, the guide I used to use in the area for deer was Kip Merke, fell off the face of the earth. Edrans is a map dot on 352 between Portage la Prairie and Neepawa. Good luck the rest of this year. Will look you up for next year. TC
Kip is from Alonsa, big whitetail country.
No dead bear tonight they all seen bear, I was up the stand with Grape we seen three, one guy seen one, and one seen four. Back at it tommorow this little guy was wanting to get in on the bait but the two 200lbders were not going to let him he was under our stand.
Its another day in Manitoba 3 guysjust pulled in to load up there heading home, hope they have a safe one.
It has slowed down at the baits the last few days they are after the nuts, we still have three days after tonight She will be interesting.
The last one he payed us a visit while baiting yesterday, one more dead bear in camp, Scott got her done last night with beautiful black he was knee deep in bears last night. Me and Grape we went to a different stand and got skunked at the bait when we get to the truck we see a black bear running in the bush. Was he in my truck yep I had a full jug of oil in there he busted it and had oil all over in the back the raskal.
The other hunter all he had on bait last night was this one, he's a very nice bear he was tempted but he passed. I think he would like a color the only color he has seen in the last two days is one that was up in the tree yesterday while we were baiting.
No dead bear tonight both the guys seen a handful each of bears nothing they were looking for they still have two nights to get it done. I sat up with Grape again tonight we had some visitors by our stand it was a good show.
Same routeen tommorow see if we can find some bear. Good night all
We are having fun with the Bears, we have had such a blessed week with the Bears and weather it's been great.
It's a sunny morning in Manitoba one of the guys ended up with a beautiful chocolate bear yesterday morning, they will be getting closer to home today they left at 5:00 o'clock yesterday afternoon truly enjoyed there time with us. Just Grape left with us today we will be after the Bears tonight, he was covered up in them last night he says he had 10 around him and at the bait at the same time. I thought they were leaving the baits for the nuts apparently not last night. Have a blessed day all.
A few of the pics Grape took last night
There's just not more I could add to what others have said in the past about Alexis, April and their family. While of course being there for a bear hunt is why you go, being there with them just adds so much more to the total experience. I've seen guys post about coming in as "clients" but leaving as friends - it's true. Very true. They have a very unique way of making you feel as though you really are a part of their family.
The food was amazing. Scott and I felt like we were eating Sunday dinner at every meal and just like at home, you ate your meals at their kitchen table with their family. And not only was every meal delicious, there was more than enough to go around - over and over. All you heard was, "More meat for you? More potatoes? More salad? More vegetables? More bread? More soup?" It was amazing. Thank you April - thanks for all your hard work. It was great!
The hunt of course was terrific. Most of us have seen Alexis' spring and fall threads and we follow them like a teenager on Facebook. Our fall hunt was no different then what we've seen in the past. Absolutely fantastic. Beautiful bears, tons of them and beautiful country. Classic Manitoba in every way.
It was also a pleasure to finally meet Greg Miller (Grape). What a great guy with so much bear hunting experience but along with that, a great sense of humor and just a fun guy to be around.
It's so redundant for all who have hunted with Desjardins Outfitting but all Scott and I can say is the same as so many others have said - thanks so much for all your hard work and for such a great week. It was the most enjoyable week ever and we can't wait for a return trip!
Alexis, April and a couple of the grandkids.
Classic Manitoba. Alexis' brother.
The new cabin at Camp Bait. Beautiful cabin with a great setting only gets better with a short walk to a terrific stand loaded with bears.
And of course the bears...
Here's one of Greg's picts -
It's getting dark and this poor little guy is wondering if he's ever going to be able to get down. Whined, cried, huffed & puffed the whole night.
Finally, not a monster bear by any stretch but a beautiful chocolate that will hang next to his blonde cousin on the wall downstairs.
Thanks Alexis for a great, great time!
Congrats Chuck, you deserved it!
Thanks Chuck for the kind words we enjoying having u and Scott with us this week, very enjoyable week no doubt. And Greg also is always a pleasure to have with us.
Looks like you had a great time with an AWESOME outfitter. Congrats to ALL of you!!
You're right about that Chris! He's a terrific outfitter and terrific person as well.
David, keep me posted on how things go up in Swan with your hunt. Text me picts.
There's Grape day 5 had a lot of action, useing what I call the long bow this trip out in Manitoba, still no dead bear. I think he will take an extension on his hunt.
Me and Keyden the grandson decided to go sit for an hour last night while waiting for Grape.
This ones a solid pope and young bear roughly 300 lbs the biggest we seen in our sit.
Love those Picts... Everyone is always smiling.
Looks like Keyden is as tall as April now. They sure grow up quick. Won't be long and he'll be sitting in that bear stand by himself!!
Yes he is close to Grammas height, he has grown up a lot in the last year ficikal and mentally enjoy having him with me.
We thought that was a pretty pic this morning looking to the east while baiting.
Any word on Grape tonight?
Grape got rained on last night never got a break from it, he did see seven bear. We are at it again today, tommorow he goes home. The Giants never showed at the baits yet maybe tonight.
Looking forward to hearing how things end up. I don't think he wants to shoot one. He just likes watching bears. 8~)
She's all over for the fall hunt Grape passed on the Bears, we had a great time these last 10 days the boys seen plenty of bear and they killed some beauty's , What a bunch of great guys we had this fall with 5 of them have never been here. We want to thank the Lord for keeping us all safe again this fall it was a fun time. Till spring God Bless
Can hardly wait til Spring. Thanks for taking us along, Spring & Fall.
What a great year you've had. Just glad that we were able to share in just a measure of it. Blessings to you & your family.
Thanks for the great Hunt. It is an experience that will remain special to me for a long time.. My wife is beginning to call me "the Bear Observer". I had tons of opportunities to shoot.. But it's more than the kill that matters to me at my stage of the game. Thank you Lexi and April....Can't wait til spring..
Thanks guys glad we got the time to share and sit together, your right Grape it's more than just the kill it's just being able to be out there to enjoy Gods creation and meet new people every year we are blessed. Really enjoyed the time we spent together guys.
