Az Coues Whitetail 08/19/16
Nice way to start the season, Tell what you did to take the buck, ground , stalk , blind ext....
Cute buck Ed. Hope to do the same Jan. 2017.
One can really get the idea of the size of these deer when you lay down your 34 in. ATA bow next to them.
my best, paul
You're right Paul... my bow is actually bigger. Throw me in the pic and the deer looks like a Chihuahua... Ed F
You might agree, but the back straps and tenderloins from these deer are DELICIOUS.
Ed, the first one I kill was a 2x2 and he ran off and died in a creek. When I picked him up, I realized he weighed less than my 80# lab. Being wet, he looked like a drowned rat.
Neat and fun to hunt.
Good for you. my best, Paul
Congrats, that's a nice Coues buck !
Very cool Ed, congrats on the great buck!
Nice one Ed ,love the brows!
Congrats BOWUNTR, pretty deer....
What date AZ Coues open, didn't realize that early....
Congrats.. 3 more weeks until NJ opener for their slightly larger cousins...
Nice one!
We still have a month and a half till our season opens. But we have had some nice cool mornings this week and I can smell autumn is not far away :)
The season opened on August 19th. The bucks are not fully developed yet. Ed F
Nice buck, Ed. Well done!!
Nice! I've never shot a velvet buck.
Killed 2 Sept 2016 southern Delaware, my first velvet buck.
You guys are getting it done early. I can't shoot anything except hogs until the first of October.
My 11 year old started it off with some jerky and pepper sticks! Nothing beats the feeling of your kid making a great shot!! Love this dad stuff , think my new addition is guiding my boys
Diamond bow Carbon arrows Muzzy trocar broad heads
The kid made the shot perfect 17 yards
great, was he more exited or you , I think I would be if my son just got his first.
He's been lucky enough to kill lots and yes he was stoked, but ya I was probably more, his little brother was pretty excited as well

August 25 Coastal South Carolina Morning sit on a fire line trail between feeding and bedding.
Pretty rare to find a consistent morning pattern for mature bucks, so I took advantage before they changed their behavior. Dave
My son with his Nebraska buck.
My daughter with her Nebraska velvet buck! Freezer is filling up.
Raising em right Beav! Congrats to all
LC, way to go, Beav that's awesome...
My second evening of the NE archery season treated me to my first velvet buck!
I`m just gonna reserve this spot for my future buck this fall.... lol
"I`m just gonna reserve this spot for my future buck this fall.... lol"
That certainly won't jinx anything, ;-)It is great to see the kids getting it done.
Lol, Matt.... don`t care about a jinx. I`ve been jinxed since 2010 so maybe this will turn it around.
Shot this old guy on a fence line the morning of Sept 25th headed to bedding. Cold and windy, rain set in after I shot. Lost his trail at 125yds and almost gave up. Regrouped and looked at some google maps and formed a plan. Long story short he went over 360yds with a high entrance, low exit double lung. Didn't touch another organ. I was shocked but relived to find him before the coyotes did.
Can't imagine WT hunting in a coat and toboggan on Sept 25th,getting the juices flowing for sure
First sit of the year, first sit with the Elite Synergy, first kill of the year.
My first Hunter this year. Big John!!
My little sister on opening evening here in PA. Feels like I taught her everything she knows about bowhunting and it's awesome watching her do everything right. She made a great 15 yard doublelung shot and the doe went down in sight. 50# Mission Craze, 415 gr arrow, Slick Trick standards.
So many great days afield... Love this stuff!!!
Fellow hunters, I had a good morning... I love to see fellow hunters having the same!!! Not a competition in the least... Congrats to all!!!
My son Zach filled his second tag on this awesome buck over the weekend!
Beav and family always getting it done. Very nice!
My son Nick with his early season buck here in Nebraska.

Congrats to everyone so far. Haven't had a chance to get out yet. Another 2 weeks of work, then it's game on!
After work hunt in Mississippi on a 25 acre honey hole near home. Larger block of woods across the road and scattered estate lots. A car honked their horn and I got ready. Soon, this one and a small eight were in range. Slick Trick and Mathews.
Great job all. Every one of those deer is a trophy. Thanks for sharing.

I killed a buck on a windy rainy night October 7, 2016. My first night scouting in July this was the first buck I laid eyes on this year. He was hanging with another big buck and so I worked on patterning them both. First two hunts I saw them about 180 yards away heading to a bean field. Needed anything but a South wind to get in on them. Had to wait 8 days for a different wind, and finally got a West wind to hang in an area I'd never stepped foot in yet. Thought maybe the beans would be harvested when I got there but thankfully they weren't and long story short he came by at 5:40pm nice and early through a field with 7' tall grass in a lot of places. The bucks felt secure in that field. Have history with the buck seeing him the last 2 years, he is a 3.5 year old.
Congratulations everyone. Some really nice deer.
Great buck Adam! Looks older than 3.5!
Nice job Apauls. looks like a big deer.
Shot him in Minnesota Oct.16 should gross 176 5/8 net 172 typical give or take a few eights after drying.
Nice to see so many young folks caring on the tradition.
Congratulations to all.
Another buck with a bum leg. This year's buck had bad front left. This buck was a 2.5 year old 6pt last year before he got injured and became a rather unusual 4pt.
"Nice to see so many young folks caring on the tradition. Congratulations to all."
x1000... look at all those kids enjoying the great outdoors!

First of the season, 23 yard shot with my Palmer longbow, Sitka Spruce shaft with a Magnus Classic Single Bevel Head
Great bucks guys and gals! I love the trad kills as well. My Dad and I are headed to SD Saturday morning to hunt the first week of November. How is the rut picking up in NE? Any chasing or pre rut action yet?
Here is a late October Whitetail from Alberta. I rattled in 2 spikers and a button buck before this fella appeared right beside me from under the big spruce boughs. I had about 2 seconds to make up my mind and take the 15 yard chip shot. He went only 50 yards and piled up within view. I was going to climb down and go over to him but two bull moose walked up and stared at him for a long time before walking off.
Those Kickers right off the bases are super cool. Good shot and fantastic BUCK!
Nice work fellas! No worries Ron - that buck is nice enough to post 3 times ;)
awesome 12pt Antler1 - sounds like a fantastic hunt.

My buddy got a doe two days later with a the first selfbow that he made. On impact she let out a beller, ran 10 yds and crashed into a tree, got up ran another 10 an piled up when she crashed into another tree.

Despite a high of 87 and 30 mph winds this buck worked down the creek 20 yards from me. Even with the high temps, my Dad and I had an excellent week of pre rut action!
Been way too hot here in Michigan plus I'm fighting sinus/cold symptoms. Spent the afternoon coughing and sneezing and then this guy showed up chasing does with 2 other bucks. Fun night. 22 yard shot 25 yard recovery.

November 9th was blessed with this deer a big thanks to JimBow for cleaning up the photo!
After holding out for a specific deer on my August mule deer hunt and getting skunked on my September elk hunt, the freezer needed to be filled on my November midwest trip.
I arrowed these 4 deer in 7 days on public land. 5, 9, 35, and 25 yards, respectively. I watched all 4 deer go down; total recovery combined was less than 100 yards and 3 of the 4 were heart shot. The 35 yard shot was farther than I'd like for a whitetail, but he was a button buck that was solo (I killed his mother the day prior), quartered away, and peeing.
The bigger buck I arrowed with 20 minutes left on the final day which was something special. He came through trailing hot doe. She saw me, but she ran off, he ran through my shooting lane so I couldn't get a shot. She did this a 2nd and 3rd time. It was almost as if she was trying to get him shot. The 3rd time, he stopped in my shooting lane.

11/19 Kansas. Extremely blessed after a less than stellar overall hunting season
11/20. Great to have more for the freezer
Nov 23. This buck has been on my radar since 2012 with one encounter. Very ghostly and I'm quite pleased to have finally met him in his old age. He was with a doe and ultimately she led him into trouble. Typical!!
And just because this is the 'meat' pole... fresh backstraps!! Kids are happy!

Nice Phill! I didn't know you moved out of Colorado?
2.5 year old 8 pointer, MO.
2.5 year old 8 pointer, MO.
On New Years Eve, I tagged out on this old Oklahoma warrior. With two long busted off brow tines, he still managed to gross 120 as a 6 point. Pretty interesting deer. He was scarred up along his neck and appears to have a very unique wound on the top of his head between his pedicles that caused a tumor like protuberance from the back of his skull. Some speculation that it is another deer's tine broken off in his skull. European mount should tell the story. For the first time in my life, I have filled all tags that I had available to me this year. One in Kansas and two bucks in OK.
