Family Hunting Tradition Pics!

The future of bow huntings depends entirely on passing our heritage on to the "next generation"! I recently was part of a family elk hunt at Rockin R Ranch and wanted to post up some pics of the hunt. This first picture is my friend Jim his two son's, his Grandson, Matt and me. Had so much fun hunting together.
We had a great elk hunt at Rockin R but no elk were harmed:) Very close many times but it did not happen. Into bulls almost every hunt. Elk hunting with traditional and compound bows is a fun challenge and HUMBLING!
Also, Got to know SteveB from Ohio as well as Tom from Wisconsin! Great guys and fun time for sure!
Please post up some neat "family hunting camp" pictures! Thx! C
This pic is all 8 hunters and guides. The famed Lone Cone Mountain is in the back ground. I had not seen it before with snow.
Hers's a picture of Matt and I with Dan his wife, two children and Dan's father. Dan's kids are experiencing growing up on the Ranch and learning to hunt.
I wonder if I''I'll be able to climb the mountain when Dan's son starts guiding??
Matt and me! Never got to do these type hunts with my Dad but while on these hunts I think of him a lot!! We hunted and fished every chance we got while I was growing up!
Here's a tree stand we came across with a chain saw cut log seat. I wonder where the builder is now?
Matt and Dan. Fall in SW Colorado! Spectacular!
This is my sons and I from our DIY OTC bowhunt in Colorado last week. We didn't get any shots, but made plenty of memories and had several encounters with bugling bulls.

Nice pics Charlie. Are there any Rockin'R reports. In the past it seemed everyone was posting them up. This year I haven't seen anything?
My bud his son and me on the far right. We get after the bunnies with the bows quite often!! The kid in this pic. is now around 15 and has many kills under his belt including several whitetails and hogs. Cade Cabrera is the main lil' man!! Shawn
Me and my daughter. After a couple of nice rifle bucks, she will be bowhunting for the first time this fall.
Great pics!! I love 'em. Smiles so big, you pat one of those kids on the back, they might swallow their head!
With my dad ( Jim Dougherty ) & a couple of my brothers on a hunt in the late 80's.
Love the pics. Here was our crew on a muzzleloading trip back in'05. The curly haired kid was actually from Germany as an exchange student. Man did he love it.
Interesting how the camo from the 80's is back in...looks like Kuiu. Break up is still the best.
Sorry here is the crew in '05, I had the wrong pic in earlier post so had to delete it. 3 generations of family hunters.
A lot of the same crew. 2006. Unfortunately the two eldest (from previous picture) have passed in the last couple years. I sure loved those times with them and still laugh about many memories. The oldest guy front right (of previous picture in the white shirt) was Peter Kroeker, and no one can keep up with the man pushing bush at 80 years old.
Funny, he'd still climb trees and just sit on a limb and shoot deer out of a tree. When he was about 78 fell out of a tree and landed on his back on a log, but had his rifle slung and it saved him. So he told me the following year that his wife Helen made him promise not to climb any more trees...he looks at me with this twinkle in his eye and a german accent and says "but what she doesn't know isn't going to hurt her." Ha ha man I love these guys.
Very Awesome Guys!
Thank you for sharing!
Have a blessed day!
Scar.
Here is my Dad, Me, Nephew and Brother in Law right before we got caught in a rainstorm and got soaked this year.
My oldest brother and I - WY 2014
My 2 brothers and I - WY 2014
My son - on leave from the Navy for a few days.
My favorite hunts these days are with my little hunting buddy..headed back to elk camp tomorrow afternoon...this year we added a spot and Sprint antelope to our take together.
"Here's a tree stand we came across with a chain saw cut log seat. I wonder where the builder is now?"
The first place I would look would be under the stand to see if thee is a human skeleton there.
one of my favorite if not the most favorite highlights of my hunting endeavors. My son and I took bear on the same night. We had done it on same year different trips, then on the same trip different days, but on this trip we scored on the same evening.
not sure we were expecting that at some time in the distant future we may actually each kill bears with our bows on the same evening when this photo was taken.
One from this year, 3 generations! Doing our best to keep the hunting spirit alive! I'm on the left at 61, Paul Jr on right at 38 & Trey my grandson at 10.

My 3 sons and I about to depart for an evening flight for ducks :-)
Very nice guys, thank you for the pictures. I bet most of those families have far more memories than simply the kill, good stuff.
My daughter Baylee's first buck. Grandpa, mom, dad and little sister all shared in the moment.
