Did anyone see this yet? Talk about some bad luck. Perhaps a bit of stupidity too, but lucky to be alive.

I've thought about things like that, or even tripping and falling on a sharp stick/branch.

Okay......I just read the story about the difficulty of getting the guy to the helicopter and that they had to carry him the 1/2 mile. Wasn't there a 4 wheeler there they could have driven him on?

Damn! Very bad luck. I bet he switches to the gutless method now.

Fawn it was an accessory to a crime and no one wanted to mess with the scene of the crime.

What little strength he had left was probably used to fight everyone off from putting him back on that damned death machine.

HAHA. From the pics it looks like the ATV was in an area where he probably should not have been... Maybe Karma, or just being stupid is hard.
My wife works at the ER and hunters are in all the time from ATV accidents. Most start teh story off with... I was not really comfortable trying it but...

Huh, a quad to drag an elk uphill by himself. Surprised he made it this far. As pointed out above, this was a "I knew this was sketchy but…"

Common sense. Tie it to the 4 wheeler right and he would not have had any problems..

I was spring turkey hunting once and got tripped up by some underbrush while moving in the dark on a gobbling Tom in a tree. When I looked to my right after slamming into the ground face first there was a stump of a tree about 2 inches in diameter sticking straight up about a foot from my head. It was a pretty sturdy little stump and could have caused some serious damage had I fell directly on it...Lucky I guess...

I worked 20 years in the ER in the heart of hunting country here in CO. Oh, boy....I have seen some pretty incredible hunting "accidents" involving elk. Probably the best non-hunting incident was when one of those Aussie helicopter elk tagging guys got beat to a pulp by an elk that escaped the net and turned on him! The next best was the wildlife guys who were trapping Mt Goats. They had gotten a big billy and were putting him in the trailer for transport, but the billy had other ideas. He turned and tried to escape, but the guys had worked so hard to trap him, they weren't going to let it happened. In the end, one guy got a horn rammed through his hand and the other guy got a horn into his chest. Thankfully, the chest guy had on several layers of heavy coveralls, so the horn just barely penetrated his mid chest. I could go on about the dead animals that got their revenge, because you just can't make this #hit up!

I think about it every time I toboggan an elk down a chute. Sure is fun, and antlers make decent handlebars, but you don't want to be anywhere near them when you're about to hit a tree.
