I don't know, itshot, those elk steak look pretty damn good to me. More than one way to cook a critter. Mmmm....dry-rubbed venison tenderloins from the grill last week.

ok, yeah...2nd pic shows the success, i was leery about that much meat in one pan, looked like way too much liquid to achieve a good sear.....and you're right, many ways to cook a critter

Thanks, Embry, but I have to confess that I cheated by having that artistic, circular display of the tenderloin slices on that beautiful paper plate with the accompanying plastic fork. That was unfair... My vote goes to Ambush, however. That was a good one. But, I'm hungry now, too, and lets see some more of the tasty end products of those hours on stand or climbing up and down the mountains. We have earned it. I've never had chislic - I'm going to try that next.

Green chile black bear stew at my place in NM tonight. Temps aren't too low...just below freezing. That's cold enough to help one really enjoy a bowl of warm stew though.
