Friend and I are heading to Wyoming tomorrow to chase lions! He's the shooter on this trip as ive already killed 2 cats with my bow. Sounds like they should be getting snow the next few days!

Well this adventure has been a crazy one to say the least! Sunday we cut a male and female track heading into a nasty canyon so we were gonna wait for them to hopefully come out. Monday we cut a male track in a easy riverbottom but he headed right for private ground so we never let the dogs go. Tuesday we had 3 other guys beat us to the mountain looking for tracks, but thankfully it didn't stop my friend from checking and he doesn't miss tracks! He checked it and cut the Tom track, so back to the house to get the dogs! We get everything rounded up and we go back in to try and cut his track again to figure out where he went and we cut his track running down my buddies snowmobile track, so this track wasn't even an hour old! We cut the dogs loose and the chase was on! The lion headed back towards the nasty canyon where we didn't wanna go, but Gps was showing us 2 dogs were treeing 450yrds straight down the canyon! Off we go, wasn't to bad getting to the cat and when we did we couldn't believe how big this cat was! My buddy Tom got his bow ready while I was taking pictures. It all happened so fast I didn't get any video cuz the cat was getting nervous and we didn't want him to bail and head deeper into the canyon where it's easy to lose a cat! He had a small window to shoot through and made a great shot and the tom came crashing down and took off! I followed the cat before we let the dogs go again so they didn't bite into the broadhead. The cat went 100yrds downhill again and piled up! I didn't see a broadhead so yelled at my friend to let the dogs go! Dogs got there and we let them chew on the cat for a bit to reward them. Took some pictures and tried to figure out how we were gonna get the cat out! We decided it might be easiest to drag him straight down to the bottom and come in from another way to get him. We get about halfway down and it's super steep and the cat got away from us sliding off a 20 foot cliff. We got to the cliff and figured out there was no way down. So we leave the cat and head back up! We were still missing 2 dogs, we could faintly hear 1 of them and it sounded like he was treeing on the opposite side of the canyon! On our way out we found the 3rd dog. By the time we go out and all the way around to the other side it took us about 3 hrs. We bail of the side to find out the other dog Ruby had another female treed and kept her treed for over 3 hours! We couldn't believe it! We took pictures and let the female cat go! So we head to the bottom of canyon to figure out how to get to the dead cat! We hike in bout 2 miles through some of the nastiest shit I've ever seen! We get back there about 430 and realize by time we cross the river and get up to the cat we would be spending the night on the mountain, so we back out and head back in the morning! We get everything rounded up and our crampons put on! The crampons were lifesavers, without them we wouldn't have got to the cat! We get to the cat and build a small fire, take some more pictures and start skinning! The hike out was pretty tough with the hide and meat on our backs. At one point a boulder fell and I barely jumped out of the way before it landed on my leg. We get out safe and head back to the shop to warm up and celebrate a little! We check the cat in the next day and now today we are making the long trek home through blizzards to Nebraska! My hunting buddy Tom and I are bringing home his 175lb stud of a lion! I'll post some pics off my phone, but the tree pics are on my good camera so ill have to wait till I get home to post them!

I just got back from a cat hunt around Laramie and south near Colorado. No luck and terrible conditions. I traded two Iowa late muzzle loader or bow hunts and some cash for this hunt .the hunters come to our place in January . Congrats wish I did the dame
