after building up a few points, and seeking advice from a few friends, I decided to apply for 1st hunt BErgland BMU for this year. I was out of my mind excited when the results were posted and I had drawn.

After the work of setting up bait areas was done, we had multiple bears hitting all of our baits. I had never hunted the UP, so this was exciting for me. I have wanted for a long time to take a MI black bear on the ground with my longbow. Finally my chance was at hand . Opening day I settled into my makeshift blind, a mere 10 yds from the bait, and 2 hrs into the hunt, the huge boar we had on a few trail cam pics showed up. after a lengthy cat and mouse game, he offered a perfect broadside shot, which allowed my arrow to to deliver the broadhead right through both lungs. I knew he was big, but when we walked up on him after a generous 75 yd blood trail, I was absolutely shocked. I had finally done what I had set out to do, and couldnt be happier.

way to go John. That guy is a pig. How did you get him out of the woods?

18-Dec-16
Dan, we had to skin him out, and cut him in half. Took us all night to wrestle him out to the t ruck. If you think packing an elk out is work, this was WAY harder. Grueling to say the least.

Very cool John !!!!!!!!

18-Dec-16
Walltent, my bow I used on this hunt is my go to Thunderstick MOAB. 57@28". Used a Gold Tip Traditional shaft, Woodsman broadheads. I love Woodsmans, they never let me down. The blood trail was everything you would ever ask for.
