Does this count!.? Non typical maybe?
Packed out my bull this year with the bush hog mower and tractor. That's a Kansas bull, we really don't know how to do it like the rest of you ridge runners...but it worked!

2016 draw was good to me. I drew both New Mexico and Arizona and brought home two 6x6 bulls!

For me I get the most joy & satisfaction by hunting with family! Seeing them have success is special especially on OTC DIY elk hunts! This is my son & I.

No horns on a this one, but it was really close to a two track in sw NM and we were able to get it in the pickup. It's nice to process it hanging as opposed to in the dirt.;)
My son, Hunter, packing out on his final day. First elk, 13 years old, 6x6. 85# kid with about 50# on his back. What a hunt we had. Thanks Cheesehead Mike for helping with the breakdown and packout. We were 5 miles into a wilderness on foot.
Nice Les.. not an easy hunt for anyone let alone a 13yo, quite the accomplishment.
Good times buddy, good times!
Maybe we need a thread on the first time tasting Jack Daniels, LOL!
Les, way to go with your son! Very well done & congrats Hunter, great looking bull!

Yeah Mike and maybe a flashlight thread? :)
So Aron at Kifaru fitted Hunter for a Tahr. 3500 cubic inch pack with small waist belt and 24 inch stays. We put a couple of pockets on it and it was good to go. He carried his entire sleep system (minus the tent we shared, I carried.), all of his Sitka clothes, all of his food and water related items ( I carried the Jetboil), and all of his hunting gear. On the way down he added the skull and rack. He did an amazing job for his age. It was a very emotional hunt, but one filled with lots of laughs! Here's another pic.
My favorite way is with friends...both two-legged and four-legged!
Les your son in those pictures has to make you more proud than any elk you'll ever take. You and your wife did a real nice job.
No antlers but one of my favorites.
My favorite way to transport any elk body part, antlers or otherwise! ;)
Awesome pics on this...but Les yours is the topper. So awesome
Only one I have on the work computer. Colorado bull.

Dad with my 2013 bull.
Rocky D, you might recognize that pack. I bought it from you before that hunt. That pack has seen a couple hundred miles and carried several animals.
EDIT: And he's wearing my dang hat. I was wondering where that hat went!
Here's my Partner Shawn securing the last load on his 76 bull.
2015 WY bull still with a long way to go - couple more miles and several thousand feet up. Glad Ron was there to help - lifesaver on that pack-out for sure!
Idaho elk. I let this guy borrow Bess for his packout. Elk was shot about 4 mile from trail head. Boy was he a thankful guy!

First load wrung me out! This was the finale.
Wow I can't believe there are guys who pack elk with the antlers up! Screw that..... "Handlebars" down and forward for max maneuverability,

He forgot his big pack back at the house! Needless to say he was hurting for a few days haha
Thats one hell of a pack mule!
Would I be weird if I said I was looking forward to the day that I will dread putting on a heavy pack of elk; antlers, meat, quarters, whatever. Right now I dream of they day I get to do that.
Love these pictures! I'm hoping I can contribute after this fall.

Hell Ron, that's not even fair!!! Nice bulls.
Thanks Rick. Wish I had some pack out photos of others but kind of a pain by yourself. There are some tremendous photos on this thread and an awful lot of happy/painful pack jobs!
I need to take the time for more pics. A lot of great memories on this thread.
BRI nice bull and one hell of a load! Whole heads and capes weight a ton!
Cnelk you're crazy! Bone up flops all over the place and gets hung up in trees. Look at my pic again... I can swing them left right to maneuver through thick stuff and the load never moves since I have a grip on it. To each his own I suppose.
Thanks Mule Power. It was a heavy load and only 3 miles. But, one of the only racks that balanced out so well, it really wasn't bad. Here's the front pic.
Some awesome photos guys!
