I need a Heavy bow for Water Buffalo
Equipment

Gentlemen,
I am looking at buying a bow for dangerous game.
I weighed my heaviest bow last night and realized it's maxed out at 67lb. I do not want to get into the whole cable twisting thing to add weight... I have this bow perfectly tuned, and don't want to mess with it.
I am looking for a newer bow... 1-3yrs old, 70-80lbs, 29.5" draw. 34" ATA or greater. If any of you have one you want to sell let me know. What it is and how much. I really don't want to drop 1500.00 for a new Hoyt;/ BTW, I am also looking on Archery Talk. Thanks!!!!
Scar.
Keep your bow. I am going this July with my 67lb Hoyt Carbon Defiant. Lots of guys have killed buffs with stick bows, and older compounds... a modern 67lb bow should be just fine. Good luck to you!
Dino,
The outfitter I am going with has 70lb minimum... so I am kind of stuck considering I won the hunt :)
Thanks, Scar.
Grab a used rpm 360 off AT, great bow, super smooth at my 28.5"draw, might be stiffer at 29.5 though, I had a 60 pounder just set up for elk and moose and I found it way to easy to draw so I sold it and got a 70, love it! What ever you do get a 6" brace height bow, its like adding 10 lbs or one inch of draw length, so a 70 pound 6" will shoot as fast as a 80lbs 7"
Know a bunch of stick-bow guys that have killed water buffalo with 55 to 60 pound longbows and recurves. The delivery system is not as important as the arrow/broadhead. You need to make sure you have an arrow set up with enough mass, properly balanced, flying perfectly out of your bow, with a solid 2-blade broadhead up front and you will have no problems if you put the arrow in the right place.
I would get your bow set up correct and pull 70+#. But I have a mint HeliM 70/29 (camo) if that helps you. I also have a black 60#.
There is a 80 pound carbon element on ebay now. It's a little older than you stated, but the price looks good. Performance probably isn't much different than a newer model.
THANKS Huntinelk, I will check it out.
God Bless,
Scar.
Pick up an 80# elite Energy 35..my brother shoots one and I can't believe how smooth and easy to draw it is for 80.
As I stated earlier, I have no desire to mess with my Maxxis. I can hit the same spot at 60 yards using field points or broad heads...
So I just picked up a used Hoyt Carbon Spyder Turbo ZT. Maxed out at 73lbs, it will be perfect. I don't feel a need to go heavier than that. Thank you for all the suggestions, I really appreciate it! Now for the arrows and broad heads. God Bless,
Scar.
Awesome! Part of the fun is in the planning. Good luck and keep us posted.
I've got a Hoyt Vector 35 -
80 lbs (limbs buried measure it at around 82) it also has the #3 cam which is adjustable from 29-31"
Comes with Fuse 5 pin sight, Fuse drop away rest, Fuse 6 arrow quiver, B stinger stabilizer, 10 easton arrows, and a pack of Magnus broad heads. Asking $600 plus shipping. It's a heavy hitter that would fit your need for sure!
Edit: nevermind, just saw you bought one. Good luck!
MedMann, P.M. responded to... You are a gentleman and kind of a scholar sir! :) Thank you so much for the offers and kind advice gentlemen! all you guys are awesome!
