How many years hunting in a row

How many years in a row have you hunted for elk?
Not so much about being successful, just hunting. Archery or rifle included.
Every year since 1988 for me
Only two in a row. And it has been 6 years since. God Bless
4 years in a row, 5 total.
First Archery hunt, 1984 plus every year since. Hunted rifle in 82 and 83. Still the highlight of the year. Look forward to spending all season chasing elk. Appreciate all the knowledge on this site from you experts. Still trying to get better every year.
Every year Since 95' for this Kansas flatlander.
Jaq.....ooops....meant to type cnelk.....yer old as dirt. LOL
Since 2006 (Katrina happened while we were in the mtns so it was a shock to come down to tripled fuel prices mid-hunt) with one year not hunting mixed in.......even had a few where I came out from MO to meet my buds for only a day or 3........I'm sick with the elk fever.
7 yrs in a row now and prob another 7yrs in a row before that!
1990 to present.
Left pa when I was 18 (1990) cause I wanted to hunt elk every year. Never went home... Guess I might as well stay..lol
2006, 2011, 13, 14, 15, and 2016. At 51 I wish I had started sooner but am having a blast at it now.
I went 1st time in 1964. Went every year until 1990 (couple years twice in one year). All bow.. Haven't been to the mountains for Elk since.
42 years for elk. I hunted muleys the first few years I could drive.
Since 1988 for elk and deer for 46 of my 58 years
shot my first deer in 1958. Hunted whenever I could but with a navy career there were more years than I liked that I really didn't hunt at all. Never killed my first sheep until just before my 49th. All my bull elk have been killed since after my 50th. I still remember killing snowshoes with a BB gun. Track till close, shoot behind the ears, run up, grab and break the neck since they were only stunned.
Started bowhunting for whitetails at age 12 in 1957 in WI. Haven't missed a year ever since. I always arranged my leave while in service so I could come home for bow season. This year will be my 61st. year bowhunting
Another "late bloomer" here. First elk hunt was 15 years ago at the age of 40. To date, I'm averaging an elk hunt every other year...and only hunted elk in consecutive years once (2010 Utah, 2011 Colorado). Typically, if I'm not hunting elk, it is because another hunt/species got in the way. Elk are absolutely my favorite animal to bowhunt....that coming from a born and raised Midwestern whitetail bowhunter.
Pretty much every year since I got back from 'Nam.
Good luck, Robb
Pretty sure 1 for me with my cousins from Idaho.
No more I think, but guaranteed Nick Muche will know for sure with his torrid love obsession for me and what I do in life.
I will say this coming from Ohio to the panhandle of Idaho it kicked my ass is an understatement.
I should have listened to kyle a little better before I went.
17 years in a row and for the last 7 years at least 2 trips per year.
Last 7 years in a row. Very low success but a lifetime of memories!
Zero in a row now for me. Skipped elk hunting last year in order to hunt moose. Bad choice, and it drove me crazy to miss it. But I'm thinking hunting elk in two states this year will help ease the pain.
Never just cannot spend that kind of money and time, whitetails for me 55 years in a row now and I am still trying to figure out the large bucks!
Two. 2015 & 2016. I will be extending that streak this year. Life is too short.
13 now for me. Took a year off for my Daughters birth. She was born on 9-4 and is 13 now. Took last year off because my wife fell ill. No way in hell anything but my family's well being is gonna keep me from going. Do the math and their isn't enough seasons in a lifetime. Don't want to miss them unless I have to.
Been chasing elk on my own since 1984. Sorry bout the typo on my first post..
Not sure? Long time though! (grin) Mid 70's ????

Can you have 1 in a row? Ha - for me, this year will make 2 in a row.

Missed two (elk) Seasons since 1995. One was for a Moose hunt in AK. The other was just "situational"
Best of Luck, Jeff
Five in a row so far. Three sets of ivories on my desk but I had chances the other two! Already bought my tag to make it six in a row.
every year since 1995, I had to wait until I was 14 to hunt big game. I remember being pissed off when they lowered the age to 12 a year or 2 later so my little brother didn't have to wait as long as I did
Forty-two consecutive seasons, starting in 1975. That is with "bow only".
Every year since 1998 except 2000 when I had a Wisconsin Bear tag so I skipped elk hunting that year. I'll never pass up the mountains for a treestand and a pile of donuts again and that's why I now have 17 bear preference points in Wisconsin. ;^)
Since 1968 I have annually pushed bankruptcy and marriage to the hilt!! LOL

In 1971 when I was 7 I killed a rabbit, then when I was 11 I killed my first deer.. Quick story.. At 7 years old I killed a rabbit in the back yard.. (I can still pitcher that shot in my mined to this day.) I also remember digging a hole and hiding it from my dad... I shot the bow ever since then.. At 11 my dad when hunting and with out me to boot. So I grabbed my Browning nomad 42 lbs recurve bow, jumped on the snowmobile and went to a spot where I was seeing deer tracks all the time, you know a deer run. I don't think I knew what a deer run was back then. Anyway I setup on the run right by a pine tree that was almost in the trail.. Long and be hold only a short time later here comes a mom with 2 fawns. One on the fawns came walking right at me and at 5 to 10 yds I drew back and shot.. Holy Sh**ski,,, I hit it right in the front. The 3 of them ran off.. I didn't know what to do, so I jumped on the sled and drove to my cousin's house.. He was older and was already hunting. I got him and we got one of them orange plastic sleds and took it, tied to the back of the sled. When we got there we only went a short ways and found blood ( hay my first blood trail ) I wish the bowsite was around then Pat could of did a blood trail thread on it.. LOL :) That deer ran up a small hill and slid down the other side,,, dead.. Well neither one of us knew how to gut a deer.. So we put the deer on the little orange sled and drove back to the house , right thru town.. No license or tag on it, as I was not even old enough to have one. To the day my dad passed I don't think he believed I shot that deer. But I did I REALLY DID!!! So the following year I had my hunting license and a archery stamp, I think it was 1976 and from 1976 on I was not know as the town poacher anymore.
Edit,, OK I thought when I first read this it was about just hunting in general. Now after seeing that it's in the elk forum I see you ment Hunting elk in a roll. I did probably 10 at most in a roll, about 23 total, missing 3 total seasons since about 1990.. Sorry about the screw up.
I too like KH only one year and killed a cow in Colorado. 1993 but will do it again in a couple years when I retire. Deer 42 years straight. Scooby
Only two in a row, 2015 and 2016. But I have three elk to show for it!!!
Unfortunately I won't be elk hunting this year. BUT...I will be in THE YUKON TERRITORY hunting MOOSE!!!!! So it is OK if no one feels sorry for me! Good luck to all you guys going after elk!
6 now and couldn't imagine missing a season
Came out from Ohio in 1988 to hunt elk. Returned in 1989 and killed my first bull pictured. Moved to Colorado in 1992 and have elk hunted every year since, and killed my 11 elk in 2015. My 12 this year :).
1984-1996 plus a few other times since.
Moved to Colorado after I retired from the Navy in 2006, started hunting 2007and haven't missed a year yet, missed a number of elk, but haven't missed going!
Started at 14yr old (first cow elk) in 1979-present, only missed 1yr due to job changes, fixed that problem. 37yrs with 22 elk under the belt (13 bulls, 9 cows) not all with a bow though.
I'll be 54 in June this year and I started when I was 14.
Since retiring from the military in 1991, I have hunted elk 26 years in a row. This fall will be 27.
Every year since 1984 all here in Idaho.
I've hunted elk since 2008, and missed only a few years (but a few other years I hunted elk in two states). The years I hunted are:
2008 (CO), 2010 (ID), 2011 (NM), 2012 (NM), 2013 (NM, ID), 2014 (NM, CO), 2016 (NM)
Haven't missed a season since I moved to Fort Collins, CO in 1996 to attend CSU. Although "Elk hunting" was probably too ambitious of a term in the earlier years. The learning curve was NOT steep back then for this Wisconsin boy....
technically my third year this upcoming fall, but first real elk hunt. Started out with a 3rd season rifle tag 2 years ago without much knowledge - low percentage area, but a learning experience. Last year I was called away for work the entire season - made it out for one afternoon once I got back from the Baton Rouge floods. This year will be the first year I can actually dedicate myself to making it happen. Locations scouted, vacations set. Have to make it happen this year!
My first hunt as a tag holder was 1985. I've been hooked since! Living in AZ and not having the ability to hunt other states, I'm not a tag holder very often(Maybe 6 or 7 times). But most of the guys here do whatever it takes to go elk hunting with a friend, family member, or even a total stranger just for the opportunity. I'm lucky that I have a large family and lots of good elkoholic friends. Ive also met a few lifelong friends through Bowsite and going on hunts with others.
I think I've missed a couple of years here and there, but mostly it's been 31 years of chasing elk in the AZ mountains! Looking forward to 31 more!
starting #29 in late may! last 8 with a bow ,which as been much more intertaining then the first 20
this year will be 61 years in a row
12 in a row. Not bad for living in Virginia.
