Nice taxidermy work. The warthogs are YUGE. Did you get your Hyena mounted?
Chief419,
We dad great luck on the warthogs on that trip.... We have killed dozens over the years, but that true giant had been elusive. We actually killed 4 big ones over 10". The biggest was 14"... I doubt I will top that in this lifetime.... We hunt them hard every trip. It finally paid off.
The hyena was the only animal that I REALLY wanted to mount. Unfortunately, they are currently not exportable to the USA. We did it as a headed rug for the new lodge.
Looks great. IMO warthog Euros are far more impressive than as shoulder mounts.
Very nice Dan!
I LUV warthogs!!
Very nice trophies. Super warthogs. Congrats
Dan, I didn't know hyenas were non-importable. I learned sumptin'. Really like the combo animal lamp. Very unique.
Chief 419, Spotted hyenas are exportable with a permit. The hyenas native to the Limpopo are the brown hyenas. They are not importable into the USA.
That cat is very cool! They all are very cool.
Why the color difference on warthog mounts? Is that their real life color? A different spieces or different sex or different part of the world or just thought a blue one would be nice change?
Huntcell,
The red warthog was a rare and lucky natural pigment variation that I just happened to encounter. They can vary in color slightly depending on the region and the color of the soil where they dig and root. That one just happened to have an exceptional amount of natural red from the shoulders forward.
I love a natural red head!

Why are Hyenas not importable?
RSTK, Both spotted and brown hyenas are strictly regulated species where both CITIES and TOPS permits are required to hunt them. In addition to the permits, there are provincial regulations that apply to certain species as well. For the Limpopo Province, no TOPS permits for brown hyenas were available at the time I did my hunt. They can be hunted under a special nuisance permit which was secured by the landowner where I hunted, but this permit does not allow for exportation. The RSA government revises these laws and regulations each year, and they are hard to keep up with... If you are interested in exporting a trophy that requires a CITIES or TOPS permit, Hannes can check for availability and make the application for you prior to your arrival. In most cases, CITIES/TOPS for primates and a few of the smaller predators are plentiful and relatively inexpensive.
