Will this include Spring 18 results too? Or just Fall 17?

16-Feb-17
If you're talking about the Bison tags, I'm pretty sure they're in there. If you're talking about the spring Kodiak bear, I think that's a different draw. I could be wrong.

Only spring 2018 for residents if you're talking Kodiak. NR apply for spring of 2018 in December 2017

I have a couple potential plans for this season, ready to select one and implement, drawing a tag would probably just screw up my plan. Still, tomorrow is Christmas morning.

I can't wait to read that I went 0 for 100 again. Thank god for HT's in our great state!

Aside from the ole bison tags, the best hubting in AK just requires a bit of boot leather.

Drew nothing but a Unit 13 Caribou tag. I guess that will work though.

Dang it, only drew three :)

Grats Nick. I got skunked.

Still going to Kodiak and I hope to have time for moose/bou. I'll have to draw that sheep tag next year.

From what I understand there is going to be a crew of Bowsite best hunting big bears on Kodiak this fall!! Let the good times roll! Hunt

I drew a DE702 Elk tag on Raspberry Island.....Know nothing about it. Everything I ready don't sound good between bears weather and terrain. Has anyone done this hunt? Any info would help. Thanks Aaron

I was fortunate enough to pull a Kodiak bear for spring 18 and JBER archery moose tag. Of course the moose tag was drawn after I booked my trip to NW Alaska for moose.

I pulled the Moose tag for the Haul Road south of the pass. Perfect tag to have in my pocket since I'll be spending a week or two in that area either way this September

I want a do-over.

I wanted the Nelson Island Bull tag this spring, we don't always get what we want Ike, lol.

Some of us do Trevor :)

From: Hugh
24-Feb-17
That Nelson Island tag had a computer glitch that caused some problems. I wanted to try it but if I do Im flying to Bethel to wait in line! Also land access and who to rent sleds, etc from can be tricky and lodging is hard to find. Ive been researching it for awhile with little information to be found.

Swing and miss for this guy....

24-Feb-17
Nick, your luck is uncanny.

24-Feb-17
23 years and got an ox tag, goat too. Good year for sure

From: TEmbry
25-Feb-17
There were a few guys in line 2-3 days prior to tags being handed out this past year (on a week of -20 temps), with only 5 bull tags available in the first place. I don't have the luxury of spending that much time sitting in bethel waiting for a tag unfortunately.

That said, Still plenty of great hunting to be had in our great state!

Congrats Frank!

Don't give up hope Trevor, I know you're bummed but you'll get one soon. Looking forward to Kodiak this fall!

they were in line 2-3 days ahead of time? wow, dedication!

"I know you're bummed but you'll get one soon." The math say the probability of this being a correct statement is incorrect.

After the 2010 season (IIRC) so many of the available muskox tags went away to "not available to most people". The chance of any given individual (assuming they were persistent and applied every year), was going to eventually draw a muskox tag, went away.

From: Nick Muche
27-Feb-17
Hey Steve, if we were talking about a draw tag, you'd be correct.

Heard about a big bison bow killed yesterday on the Copper. Hope he posts some pics soon!

"Hey Steve, if we were talking about a draw tag, you'd be correct." Oh yes, confusion over the word "one" again, I hate when that happens....lol.

From: Nick Muche
27-Feb-17
Horrible odds in the draw. Much better odds for a guy who knows other avenues of obtaining a tag and those that want to hunt AK Ox will find a way. The draw tag is the least likely and also the most expensive. If a person was only trying to draw a tag, they could wait forever.

Did you draw your tag or did you find another way Steve?

From: Steve H.
27-Feb-17
I drew a Shishmaref tag with the sole intent to hunt them in the fall, which I did in 2008, and saw a grand total of zero ox. I then went back, into the deep freeze in February of 2009, (after purchasing a second $500 tag since locking tags are by calendar year) and got a big bull. There were good numbers of tags the following year and then in 2011 they did us dirty.
