My buddy drew a Muzzleloader tag for the Baca. A week before the hunt they cancelled it. It was a cluster f#%^.

I believe a local guy got this tag last year. His wife works for the division of wildlife.Hmmm. He shot that one big bull everyone knew that hung out on the refuge. I think it scored around 365.

Hi all, What I heard about the elk hunts on the SLV NWR's : All hunts during archery and ML on the refuges were canceled due to a paperwork problem, regulations had not been published the federal register at the time of the hunts. The issue was resolved in time for some of the rifle seasons.
Several elk were taken on the Baca refuge during the rifle seasons.
Mtnrchr, the bull I think you are referring to was not taken on the Monte Vista refuge, the hunters refuge permit was cancelled just like all the other archery and ML permits.
