Tomorrow opens the MS 2017 Spring gobbler season.

i plan to open mine in normal bowsite fashion with the stick and string. The weather leading up to the opener has been mild and warm with turkeys gobbling and strutting everywhere, however its been cold the last few days, with a low tonight of 31 and high of 53 tomorrow - but clear and sunny.

i have two set ups already in place with blinds set up that should be good, i plan to go out late this evening in hopes of roosting birds so i will know which set up to pick. One has easy access with very little chance of getting busted from the roost, the other set up is back in the timber and will be difficult to get into with out bumping roosted birds...

look tomorrow for post from the blind....

Plan worked like a charm. Shot him at 7 yards at 7:55am.

Shot was a little back and he limped off to about 25 yds. My second Arrow only got feathers and he flew off!! I did a ninja dive out the window of the blind to see where he went. He sailed down on the edge of some big open timber. 20 min later I jumped him and he didn't go far and I was able to get an arrow through his wing joint at 30yds.

He came in with two buddies and about 10 hens.

Went out scouting in N.E. Ohio today. Even after the heavy snow and high winds the last couple days. I saw about 30 birds today. About 75% of them are toms. An they where strutting their stuff. Even in the snow.

North east Ohio has benefitted from the restocking of turkeys in Nortwest Pa. Its nothing to see in the spring 30-50 birds together.
