Well I am back from my Greenland Muskox adventure and all I can say is WOW. What an amazing place!! Game rich area, beautiful scenery everywhere, great people, and an overall great hunt. I can say that bowhunting Muskox in Greenland during the spring snow is not easy. The mountains are very steep and the snow is crunchy and deep. If these animals feel pressure they dont get in a defensive circle...they just run to the top of the nearest mountain. They are like mountain goats!! Coldest temp was -22F and it really makes you do some soul searching when you have to pee in the middle of the night!!

For me, those types of sojourns are more than just hunts.....they are expeditions or adventures of a higher order.....particularly when done in the winter months.

Congrats! He's an old bull with worn tips. I hunted Greenland last year and was also surprised at how wary they are. When spooked, they will run! Greenland is a special hunt. Please share more pics. Did you hunt on the West side of Greenland?

Why is Iceland green and Greenland ice?

Congrats! Great pics! The northern lights one was spectacular. More please? =D

Decoy work!? With the crusty snow were you able to get real close or did you have a longer shot? Those musk Ox up close are so dang cool, especially when they hold their ground. Looked like fun!

Nick, the decoy worked on some but not on others. Anyone who has ever hunted Greenland in the spring can tell you that this hunt is far different than Nunavut or Alaska. These Muskox live in the mountains like goats. There is no room to push them or run them with a snow machine. Honestly, the best time for bowhunters would be the fall but it is still doable during the spring hunt.

Why is Iceland green and Greenland ice?

The settlers on Iceland went to Greenland and it was all ice. In order to make it more attractive to more settlers coming over from Europe so that they would go there instead of Iceland they named it Greenland. It was basically a marketing ploy.

Congratulations on a mighty fine adventure and a great animal!! That muskox is nice to.

I think you have to be tough and dedicated to hunt winter muskox. All kinds of challenges that most of us don't want. Thankfully, early fall hunts came about for us wimps.

Congrats Chris on your great Arctic buffalo! A true surviving species from the Ice Age! What an adventure and excel pics!
