Skull holder made on a hinge to pivot...
Wanted to make a double wall hanger for my wife's and my buck from 2016. Put it together from some scrap we had lying around at the shop. I used a hand drawn template and cut out the base with a plasma. I used guide strips to get the cut as straight as possible. Then fabricated the stems that hold the skulls from 3/16" and 1/4" bar stock. A little bending and manipulating and got the desire I wanted. Here's the rough workings...

Nice job Embry! That's awesome. Whats left to do to it? looks great as it is.

27-Mar-17
Rooster... The hardest part is the stems that hold the heads and getting the angle right. If anyone needs a closer look at the stems, I'll be glad to take a closer photo.

Eric... just needs a little finish buffing and some paint.

I'll post a finished photo when I clean it up a bit and put it on the wall.

Great art and function combo - simple, powerful, good looking, and efficient way to mount multiple euros. I'd love to see details of the stems. How many discs did it take to grind to the finished dimensions? How much time did you invest start-finish? If you used screw-on fasteners to attach the stems to the base, you could ship it pretty readily, and I think you might get a bunch of customers. How about a desktop version - maybe feature just one centered rack? Maybe orient the arrow tip towards the viewer in that instance for stability.

Very cool, great idea......wonder what spine arrow you would need to shoot that thing?

Ben, here's a few photos of the stems and how they slip into the base. Simple hinge type. Made it all total in a couple hours. The toughest parts were bending and manipulating the stems to fit each head and get the angle I was happy with, also the distance from one another.

CJE... the head is 10,500 grains to be exact. Probably going need something hefty to make it launch. :)

That's pretty well thought out mounting system, there EmO. The table mount one to. Good looking and versatile. Looks like you have a full machine shop around you to so sky's the limit.

I'm going to put the plasma to work and cut out a bunch of smaller skull hooker copies. If you don't mind, I'll make a couple copies of yours to?

Be interesting to see if there are many patterns that lend themselves well to small silhouettes. Like the Browning deer skull or the Kuiu ram.

Great job!

27-Mar-17
Yeah! I like it Rick. Nice fabrication work man. God Bless

Appreciate the kind words from everyone. Thank you!

Ambush, oh man, I don't mind a bit, do what you want with them. I have no patents. :) I'd like to see them also.

Here's a hitch receiver I made out of extra scrap metal lying around. The browning logo was plasma cut out. The arrowhead done with a hand torch. Every now and then an idea will hit me and I'll build it. It's nice that my job also lets me do these side projects. I definitely enjoy it.

Looks great Rick! Maybe flat black paint the stems with some of that black plastic tool dip on the ends to keep those skulls from sliding around with those OK earthquakes.

28-Mar-17
Great job Rick.. Nothing better that fabricating your own stuff!!

28-Mar-17
TD... we actually have a CNC plasma. It sits in a corner in our wharehouse. Our volume is not near what it used to be (oil) and there's shops around town that can do the stuff we need, at a cheaper rate. We make pipe cutting and beveling machines for a variety on applications. Mainly for pipe liners.

John... that plastic tool dip is a GREAT idea. Think I'll do that. As far as earthquakes, yep.. we got em'!

Really well thought out. Rick your scallops on the edge desk mount is a handsome take on a stone head.

So who's going to whip up some versions for sale (with a licensing fee to Rick)? Maybe go alu for the base- save some shipping lbs. Or a CNC/plasma version. This is too good of a product to let go - and we need some 'merican product before oversees knocks it off.

Cool stuff..... as somebody that plays around a bit making things.....the hard part is to figure out how to make more than $5 an hour doing it..... =D

04-Apr-17
Thanks guys! Tom... you are so right, although, I think there's room to make money with these. The time to make and assemble is quite small. That is where you could recover money from material costs. I just have no desire to make them to sell. I'd make them for donation or for friends and family, that's about it.

Here's the finished project in the double Euro... just needed paint.
