My buddy has a NR 650 elk charge on his card. You won't believe me but it's his first time applying. Now, did he draw the first choice or second? Any idea when the portal will update. The suspense is high and it's not even my tag!

One late one early season. The late was in unit 10 which required nine points in the bonus pass.

So he only put in 2 choices? If it was a betting game the odds are on the Late archery hunt for sure. Most NR with 9+ points are holding out for an early tag, so there are probably a number of NR tags available in the random odds.

There was only one NR random tag available in late 10 archery and seven randoms tags in 7E early. 7E early required 8 Pts to draw in the bonus pass. Still think he drew 10 late?

Yes possible. But you are correct. Most likely one of the 7-8 random tags given for 7E.

Impossible... only your first two choices count, unless there are leftover tags after the first round. Ed F

There are several late bull hunts that have gone into the second round in years past, so he could've drawn that third choice yes. However, he may very well have drawn ANY of those choices. When 80% of the tags are awarded during the random part of the draw, anything is possible.

Unit 1, 2b, 2c late rifle tag for me. Works out so I can still bow hunt Colorado and possibly New Mexico. Looks like elk season is going to stretch a few months this year.
