It's 4/20 today! Do you partake?
It's not for me.
But will you toke it up today? :)
C'mon Man... be truthful...
Does it count if you don't inhale?
What's "4/20"? Yes, I am naive...
No, but I will be having barbecue ribs for lunch. <-- that has nothing to do with your question.
Nope. I have nothing really against it. But I've never messed with that stuff.
I don't. But it is 420 day everyday in Colorado.
Whatever it takes;-)
No.....not that there's anything wrong that!
It's 4/20 around here every day I ride my motorcycle! I can't believe how frequently you'll smell that stuff. "Ooooh, that house is hot-boxin' it!"
Not anymore. But I am smoking a couple turkey thighs and drumsticks and will definitely "inhale".
And this crap has to do with bowhunting how???
No not now or ever, I get "High" on life and do not need external stimulants
Moderator must be outback..:.::~••~
I gave up that crap when I grew up .... to each their own... I dont drink, nor smoke....anything !! ... if I want to get high, I go for a run , or kill a big deer ...
Maybe if I was in Colorado.
I bet it'd be a great food plot crop for most herbivores. (Now it has to do with bowhunting)
"And this crap has to do with bowhunting how???"
It is kind of an odd thing to put on a bowhunting forum. To each their own I suppose. I'm guessing the MODs will get it pretty quick?
You guys must have missed the loooong thread awhile back about partaking while hunting. Seems quite a few very successful bowhunters do. I know a couple.
Do some of you guys find anything funny? CNELK posted this thing as a chance to add a little levity into our lives. Lighten up! Or maybe I should have said Light 'em up! Ha!
"Get off my grass"! Or go back to leatherwall
"go back to leatherwall" LOL
Ummmm....What was the question?
No one complains when whiskey threads pop up. I don't see a problem with this one. To each their own.
And I'm serious about hemp as a food plot crop. Naturally resistant and grows like a "weed". Haha!
I heard it cures target panic! Now who's in? lol
I think the last time was around 1990. I wouldn't mind trying it out again but we have random testing at work. Doesn't affect me one bit if someone else likes to partake. It's just like anything else in life....moderation, moderation, moderation.
Getting drugged up is NOT funny. It's pathetic.
"Cures target panic"
This thread sure beats the hell outta the expandable thread already
I smoked this the other day. Nice pastrami sandwiches.
I heard if you hotbox your gear in it you're basically a magnet for ungulates. And you can hunt any wind ;)
Some grumpy SOB's on BS! It's a whole lot easier to not waste your time on topics you dislike by not opening the thread, pretty simple.... x2 Cnelk.
If I was retired and it was legal, I probably would.
My shoulders are shot from scraping cedar houses for half my life. My neck is shot from rolling ceilings for half my life. I don't take any pills for pain ever.
I do get some relief when I take a few tokes of the good stuff after work on really bad days. I also enjoy a nice fat joint once in a while just because. And definitely if we are taking my boat out for tubing or skiing. It should be legal everywhere. Alcohol and drugs ruin families and lives. Pot just makes you feel good!
There's nothing funny about people with no sense of humor.
Referencing "leatherwall" and weed in the same thread is an insult to weed.
Nope, not for me. Funny that there is still a 420 day when it's legal in a lot of places. The lawyers are salivating for the day they can sue the pot manufactures just like the cigarette companies, big pay day coming for them.
It has ruined Colorado in my opinion. I am against it for many reasons. Legalizing marijuana is bad for the state and our country. I grew up in a house where both parents used it and I smoked pot every day from age 16-26... I will admit I am addicted to killing things with a arrow now!
"My neck is shot from rolling ceilings for half my life." I have a buddy who's fingers are shot from rolling. :)
I worked law enforcement for 30 years. Pot smokers are the laziest people on the planet. It may slow you down on a stalk but you're gonna make a whole bunch of mistakes and shoot low... Ed F
I have a close friend and one of my brothers who have serious medical issues say it is a great alternative to prescription meds, perkocet, oxy whatever, etc.
If I had to choose between alcohol or weed..............................
Wait, what was the question....?
This is way better than the case for mechanicals which will break 400 today. Smoke em if you got em.
One of my best public land deer bow hunting spots in Nebraska....
There. Now its covered by bowhunting :)
Only a pot head would come to a hunting forum and want to talk about dope. No matter the conversation a dope head will find a way to move the conversation to a discussion about dope.
Oil or condensed pill form should be used for medical. If you are smoking it your just getting high with a bad excuse why it's okay
Too funny! I think some people have watched Reefer Madness one too many times.
Instead of posting those "What do you look for in a hunting partner" threads, we just needs threads like this to "weed" them out!
I think weed would really help one focus on a spot and tune everything else out. I bet it would help shooting. I don't believe it will make you shoot low, come on.
I know first hand the benefits of medicinal pot, legal or not.
I've never done illegal drugs, smoked, dipped, anything .... but I have horrible sleep right now and have for years and if I could eat a pot cookie and sleep?
Next time I'm in CO I'm trying it. I'm that desperate
I dont know the laws in each state but I was sure I read you are not allowed to carry a firearm open or otherwise if you are using medical marijuana. Can anyone confirm that? If its true I would think most would not toke it up. A few short years ago we got the right to carry with a bow here in Az. I would like to keep the right. There, I made the thread bow hunting related. LOL
not me. I'm stupid enough naturally.
I do. Not today though, work and a weekend trip to pack for.
I don't "medicate" or justify it with some bs, I just enjoy having a good smoke now and again. Really brings out creative thought, relaxes me, very introspective. The holier-than-thou judgers can kiss my a$$, my life and I do what I want with it. Doesn't affect my work, ambition, public safety, and just about everything around us is a potential health hazard.
Peco, maybe it would help you. It wouldn't me. I'd be paranoid hiding in the weeds from the cops, or giggling for no good reason, or heading to town for a cheeseburger and some ice cream.
Not for me, but to each their own....
Some of you really need to know some facts before you start spewing your rhetoric.
"Pot smokers are the laziest people on the planet"
"Getting drugged up is NOT funny it's pathetic"
Listen--first off weed or pot is NOT DOPE!! You must be over 50 if you refer to it as dope. Dope is the hard drugs.
Now maybe some pot smokers are lazy, but how dare you label us all lazy! Please buddy, I don't care if you were a cop don't label me or my fellow smokers. That's like saying all cops only eat donuts and are fat and beat their wives. I respect cops when given respect also.
I'm in the best shape of my life at 35, work full time, and a great person. Some of the most successful people I know smoke on the regular. It's funny how "alcohol" is so much safer than pot to lots of you. Really? Let's look at the destruction alcohol has caused millions of people. DUI deaths, crashes, divorces, fighting, aggressiveness. How many people do you know that ONLY smoke pot get caught up in this? I would bet hardly any.
Biggest drug dealers on earth are your doctors!! Hmm feeling edgy take this pill. Have depression take this. Funny thing is people take all these Dr meds, then drink alcohol also. Ever do something drunk and say geesh if I wasn't drinking I never would have done that. THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN WITH POT.
As far as Colorado making it legal. Why not? People are gonna do it regardless if you or I like it or not. Why not capitalize on it and reap the benefits of MILLIONS/BILLIONS of tax dollars. I'm sure your roads, schools and such can all benefit from it.
Embry Oklahoma--we need to hunt together!!
Sorry for the rant, but it needed to be said.
The man who invented and holds the patent on the modern cable and data network you all enjoy and are using right now to access this site is a regular smoker. Good friend, husband, father, brilliant award-winning scientist with a PhD. Certainly not lazy.
But he may shoot low, I don't know. Have never shot with him.
^^^^ now get some canned air and clean the cheatos out of your keyboard. LOL
I would if I didn't get random drug tested for work. I think it should be legalized across the board and it's a big waste of resources to criminalize people over it.
Question for those who know more about this than I do. It's still classified as a schedule 1 drug on a federal level so it's still illegal in that regard. Did states that "legalized it" really just decide to quit enforcement?
Stealthycat, If you think it would help you, I'd try it independent of it being legal in a particular state.
Ben h, I believe they also saw it as a great opportunity to get more funding for education and infrastructure. They save money not chasing people who indulge in a flower. And they make even more money taxing it.
One fact that rings true and shows a big issue with our society is "The most dangerous thing about cannabis is getting caught with it"
I don't know Grunter... "Them boys from Oklahoma... " Well, you know the rest.
I'm curious how many anti-marijuana guys dip/chew or smoke and take 2-5 prescription meds each day
"Pot smokers are the laziest people on the planet" Yeah this is not true. I partake once in a while but like to while being active. Hiking, fishing, camping or anything outdoors. I think the people who are lazy stoners would be lazy regardless if they smoked.
As far as "It's still classified as a schedule 1 drug on a federal level so it's still illegal in that regard". This is true but Schedule 1 means that it does NOT have any use medically. Take a wild guess on who owns a patent for the medicinal use.
ben h's Link
Dyjack, I get that by not enforcing/criminalizing it in those states, they get the benefits of not incarcerating and creating extra felons in their state, they also get to reap benefits of revenue, so that's win-win and makes perfect sense and states are starting to see this and are jumping on board. I think there are around 26 states that have legalized either recreational or medical use. My question is more to do with the logistics of how states do this when it's still federally illegal? My guess is they just chose to not care/pay to enforce the federal law and the feds don't really care to do it either (which are good choices, we don't need any more criminals).
Destroyer, good info. I didn't really understand what schedule 1 meant. That's crazy that the US Health and Human Services own the patent for medicinal use, which pretty much says it has a use, i.e. not a schedule 1 drug, but the DEA refuses to accept this despite widespread evidence supporting that it has a lot of uses. On one hand Human Services stands to make money by it's use, but the DEA will lose budget if it can't enforce it being illegal. Can't make this stuff up; see link.
"Listen--first off weed or pot is NOT DOPE!! You must be over 50 if you refer to it as dope. Dope is the hard drugs."
This says a lot... I'll give you one thing, not all cops like donuts and every now and then a liberal makes sense. I'm basing my general opinion on dealing with pot heads since before you were conceived. Not very productive while under the influence and quite often when they are sober. I'll add that I do have some personal experience during my younger years...
Yeah, I get the alcohol thing but that's another off season Bowsite thread. One thing not listed in your facts post is that it WILL be legal in every state, sooner than later. Because that's where our country is heading.
Typical pot raid goes like this: Knock at the door, no answer for a few minutes. Door gets kicked in and cops are confronted with five guys sitting on a couch with a cloud of smoke above their head. Awkward long pause.... Then, from right to left, in order each guy says out loud slowly "dude". Cops realize that there is no threat after another very long and awkward pause. Then, the smartest of the bunch who is sitting in the middle says "Dude, what took you so long, we heard (yesterday) you guys were coming two weeks ago". The five guys go to jail and everyone is happy. Ed F
Stealthy, I'll send you a note..
Colorado Public Schools actually receive very few $$$ tax dollars generated from legal 'happy hay' - see link
"JUST ANOTHER SIN TAX
Marijuana gets a lot of attention because what Colorado did is new.
The reality is—it fits into an existing ecosystem of so-called “sin taxes” already in place here.
None of them were ever enough to keep the entire state government running, though they do help.
For instance, in the 2015-2016 fiscal year, Colorado brought in:
$55.2 million -- cigarettes & tobacco excise tax
$42.6 million -- liquor excise tax
$102.9 million – casino tax
At $129 million, recreational marijuana has earned its place as a major player in this mix.
Whew... Glad you saved their lives by putting them in jail with murders and rapists and making them pay thousands of dollars because they were sitting in their house smoking the devils lettuce. I respect what you do and thank you for keeping our streets safe but come on. There is very productive people who smoke marijuana. I've been in the IT industry for 15 years and I know some very smart C level individuals who partake everyday. Like I said before "I think the people who are lazy stoners would be lazy regardless if they smoked."
Guess you folks found each other.
Almost everyone loves their drugs. 7 in 10 Americans are on drugs (prescription meds) and I think its 4 of 10 on 3 or more prescription drugs. Millions still smoke and use tobacco products. Alcohol is a drug of sorts, many guys slam back 2-3 or more a day.
Medicinal marijuana has great value. Recreational I don't see a need for any more so than getting plastered drunk and yet we've all done that from time to time. If it would make me sleep .. without any addictions to it ..... I'd eat 1/4 cookie though I promise you that.
+420 Grunter. Well stated. Lazy folks would be lazy with or without weed. some of the old folks on here need to just relax. A toke or two would help with that!
The high I experience from smoking is a bonus side effect of the pain relief I'm looking for.
Cnelk, I was out she'd hunting pretty close to home this week....you would probably know the spot. I ran across remnants of a well cultivated patch....no plants, just black poly and very fertile dirt.
Whats amazing to me is the level of tax revenue on an all cash business. I imagine if every transaction left an electronic trail it would be even higher (no pun intended). I'm no fan of some parts of the 420 scene but to each their own. Although I'm more Libertarian when it comes to what people choose to do with themselves on their own time, legalizing it here was another step in Colorado going farther to the left. I wish other states would hurry up and legalize so Colorado doesn't stand out as a destination for stoners.
Its ironic that the first time I ever saw or smelled it was while skiing here in the 70's as a little kid. Of course its always been common at ski areas but now thats one of the places you will still get in trouble with it.
I know a very conservative guy who never used it or knew much of anything about it. Long story short, he went into the business. Turns out a squeaky clean record is a good thing when applying for growers license. He still hasn't tried any of his company's product.
I handle a decent number of misdemeanor and felony criminal matters from day to day. A significant number of these crimes are committed while using alcohol. A significant number are committed by people using meth.
A very insignificant number of these crimes are committed while using marijuana.
Not defending or justifying, just what I see from day to day. . . food for thought. . .
I do have a couple opinions though: Meth is a problem with no solution. Alcohol is far more destructive than pot.
I have absolutely no comment!
"Alcohol is a drug of sorts." Nope, alcohol is a drug, it's just in a liquid form and it's not a narcotic (because, for the most part, it's legal). I'm not a pot smoker, but I agree with most on here: alcohol and meth = way worse. Tobacco might be worse, might be a push - who knows. I think you have to be careful with any substance that alters the mind, but weed might be ok in moderation, and I'm ok with it for medical use. Alcohol, on the other hand, the drug that is mostly legal, is devil water and does more damage.
From the CDC: tobacco is the leading cause of preventable death in the U.S. Alcohol, although not as deadly as tobacco, is responsible for more deaths than opioids, heron and cocaine combined. If you gotta drink, maybe it should be the bong water.
Nope. I do not partake. Nor will I justify or condemn those that do. That is not my role.
However, it is a mind altering drug. Like many things. It does have negative side effects. Like many other things we humans routinely partake in. The one thing I'm confused about is people trying to rationalize it's affect in regards to less taboo means of mind altercations. It is what it is. If you need it or want it bad enough, that's on you. Just like being an alcoholic is on you. God Bless men
I smoked a little ganja back in the 80s occasionally, but wouldn't have considered myself anywhere remotely close to being a pothead or an expert on the subject, for that matter. Personally, I could care less what you do as long as your actions don't affect me, but you guys on here that are trying to bs everyone that it heightens your consciousness or that it doesn't affect your cognitive abilities are full of it! I smoked enough of it to know what it did to me and the people I smoked it with. We were far from fully functional. That's why we smoked it!
I wonder if any of you would feel differently if some highly intelligent IT professional, doctor, businessman, etc., got stoned on his way home, ran a stoplight, and t-boned your wife's car, and killed her or one of your kids. Personally, I'd rather be around a stoner than a loud mouth drunk any day, but impaired is impaired, no matter the vice.
Just curious... How many of you recreational users smoke in front of your kids? I drink alcohol in front of my kids.
My little cop humor was just that.... Nobody goes to jail for getting stoned in their own house. My perspective is different. When I grew up and worked it was illegal. My parents taught me to obey the law... it's that simple. I get that things are different nowadays, but I still feel the same. To each his own... Ed F
My main drug of choice is caffeine.
I'm with you Bowhtr, can't stand the typical dopers I deal with. Bunch of bottom feeding, lazy, turds.
I used to smoke weed, not any more. The lazy pot smokers musta been smoking`indica, because sativa gives you the energy. Any pot smoker knows that.
Who's a few points for you guys to discuss 1no marijuana is grown in dirt anymore it's all Hydroponics that allows anybody growing it to add chemicals to the water that the plant except and that is a very dangerous thing. Since it's not federally regulated nobody watches what is added to the water of these growing operations. So when drug dealer is obviously going to put something in his water to make his clients need his product more then the next drug dealer. 2 it still federally illegal it is a 100% cash business because the banks cannot accept money from the institutions that are selling it. The argument about tax revenue is bull crap because we all know the drug dealers are not going to be a hundred percent honest about how much cash they bring in and pay all the taxes owed.
Let's talk about mechanical broadheads, what's your opinion on them?
Forest - I'm sorry but you have absolutely no clue about what you're talking about. The majority of weed is still grown in dirt. The only thing that they put in it is things to get the ph to a certain level and plant food i.e fertilizer. All of that has to be flushed out of the plant or its gonna give you a helluva headache. In Colorado, some shops let you pay with a card and the banks accept it. Growers are under a microscope here in Colorado. They have to pay massive fines or risk losing their license if they are not in 100% compliance with the state government.
Just to piss everyone off.. I like to imagine there's a guy somewhere who indulges in cannabis every day that works harder than any of us and kills animals consistently with rage broadheads. The world is a big place, I'm sure there is more than one.
Bowunter, no, I don't smoke weed in front of my kids. They do however know that I smoke. It's not something I do in a social setting because usually I drink beer in social settings and I never mix the two. It is also not something I've ever been ashamed or embarrassed about doing.
Copperman, I'm fairly certain that my wife and kids wouldn't consider me a bottom feeding, lazy turd. Nor would the folks at my church. Neither would my customers or business associates. They would refer to me as hard working, loyal, honest, trustworthy and dependable. You don't get to where I am in life by being anything other than that. I'm only 34 and set up to retire by 50 if I choose.
Forest bows, take a trip to Humbolt co CA. It's still grown in the ground there. Also, your "drug dealer" isn't the one actually growing your weed. The growers now are real botanists and take pride in what they grow. There is absolutely no benefit to adding some chemical that is "extra" addictive. This is not crack or heroin buddy. Weed is a safer alternative to nearly any other product you put in your body today.
I completely agree with Forest!
drug dr??/ noun 1. a medicine or other substance which has a physiological effect when ingested or otherwise introduced into the body.
Don't use it never have if someone wants to in there own home more power to em but I would appreciate if they kept in in there home and out of public places hate the smell of the stuff. Our racing team is sponsored by one of the local shops I have no issue with the stuff just not for me.
Wow! Way more contentious thread than I expected. I live in one of the legal states (Alaska if you didn't figure it out already). I spent alot of time researching/planning a legal grow operation up here and ultimately decided against it, but not for any moral reasons--just a business decision. I do have some background on the illegal side--nothing involving the courts--it was just college. While I smoked alot of pot back then, I soon found a career and drug tests weren't going to allow it. Fast forward 20 years and I was looking into starting the business, so I began to read...A LOT. It's too much to write here (and probably not the place for discussion anyway), but it should be said that marijuana does have some serious medicinal benefits and will only continue to expand in that arena as legality becomes more widespread and thus studied by people way smarter than me. It is also pretty clear that there are many other drugs out there more damaging than MJ. Not to mention the lack of physical addiction common to prescription drugs, alcohol, caffeine, tobacco, etc... Yes, it does have an addictive quality, but in a mental aspect. There are no withdrawal effects with stopping MJ use (other than possibly making you smarter). I get the argument that we don't need to add yet another drug to the list of already legal drugs, but if someone wants to smoke weed they will be able to find it pretty easily. I think many of the stereotypes used by anti's are usually law enforcement or a family member that saw only the worst of it. Many of them would be surprised to know that their lawyer, doctor, school teachers, priests, judges and even friends are partaking--but, wouldn't dare tell one of them because they know the reaction they'd get. Sure, cops walk in and see a bunch of stoners on the couch, but they aren't going to get called to the school teachers house because they weren't selling it or causing any problems. One last comment--you hear of lots of wife/children getting abused when "dad" gets drunk, but when was the last time "dad" got too stoned and hit his wife/kids--may eat all the cheetos, but violence is the furthest thing from his mind.
The same kind of people grow your tomatos unless you grow them yourself. Careful someone might put liquid bat guano in their medium to get you addicted to animal crap. Maybe even use cow patties to get you addicted to bulls**t.
This is a completely ignorant subject! Most of the people who smoke weed are too lazy to enjoy the outdoors, let alone be successful in life, work and family. Grow up and be responsible, if you need to do drugs to escape your life, there's a bigger problem!
My warehouse guy told me it is easy to figure out what adults are addicted and it is by what they are willing to do for more of the drug they use. If you are a straight male and want some more of your preferred drug so intensely that you would consider going on a quick date into the back alley with another dude then that drug needs outlawed.
Pot smokers will never head into that alley whether has been an hour or a day or a week since they used weed. Addicts of cocaine, heroin, meth and the Rx based on those drugs will have a hard time not heading into that alley when the craving gets intense.
An alcoholic and a nicotine addict might think twice. The coffee drinker would laugh.
Pot has been cultivated to be much stronger than the Easy Rider days. Studies have shown that pot can impede the development of the brains of young males. As with alcohol, have pot be legal and restrict the legal age. Allow for research into how various components of pot might help with epilepsy, Parkinson's and other diseases. Strip out the THC high to create pain modifiers that don't get the patient loopy. Take away a high-margin product line from the Cartels.
But, this topic has so little to do with bow hunting that might as well be about 1965 Mustangs.
I partake, not a lot but I have a disease called acromegaly. It has destroyed my joints and doing a little "smoke" has helped greatly with my joint pain. People think it is a joke but I assure you it is not and by smoking a little pot, it has allowed me too continue to do things that I may not be able to do!! Actually the way it works best in edibles but I do not partake that way. Scooby
Back to bowhunting though, do you think deer get high when they eat marijuana plants? Maybe the mature bucks would be easier to kill if you added some "trees" to your food plots.
All I know is that the Neb deer are never very far from the bunches of weed o found
I will say this about the comments about lazy pot smoking people are absurd!! I have friends and know of many people who work hard and make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year that smoke pot everyday. As far as killing animals and hunting hard I have a friend who is a chiropractor and he has taken more P&Y bucks in the last ten years then most anyone ever will in a lifetime and most of them on public ground, yeah he is a no good pot smoking freak, that has raised 3 wonderful kids of which 2 are doctors and a 3rd in medical school and oh yeah he make a few hundred grand a year and oh by the way smokes a lot of pot. Sorry but some folks are just so mis-informed it is not funny!! Scooby
Ohhh Yeah. Better than any man made substance IMHO. Pharmaceutical company's don't create cures they create customers. I believe these are the true gateway drug and they are right in your medicine cabinet.
What really pisses me off is wen the deer eat my crop, and really the deer do love it..Had the bastards on cam munchin away...So I guess you know !Y awnser...,
read carefully crusader dad, don't think I've ever dealt with you.
WOW and the last thread that was similar to this was about alcohol consumption.
Pot is not a gateway drug. Its been proven that was all politicized by our government in the late 50s and 60s to curb drugs.
I have been in my fair share of full out (movie style bar fights) and it was always started with alcohol. I have never once seen a person high on weed even remotely get even close to getting violent with another person.
To tell someone who gets high to grow up is funny. How many people here bicker with one another daily like school kids?
As others have said there are many here on multiple drugs daily. Prozac, other stuff for anxiety, depression, Parkinson's, etc. Takes roids to get bigger or hgh for faster health recovery in sports, If a person smokes to relax why do you care?
Lots say well its illegal, well so is driving over the speed limit, claiming church contributions on your taxes you never gave, etc.
How about quit worrying what others do and worry about yourself?
Why worry about if someone uses mechanicals or not?
Shoots over 30 yards at a deer?
Its just freaking marijuana, the last time if memory serves me correct our native Americans used it quite a bit?
More important issues to tackle in my book, abortion, boys using girls bathrooms, universal conceal carry, etc.
I was painting the kitchen cabinets today and got a little high on the paint fumes. Does that count?
I'm in Denver looking at huge warehouses that are grow operations........No dirt what so ever in these operations. The only card you can use at a pot shop is in the ATM machine. When I smoked pot every day for ten years I would tell my self it was good, natural, it made me better more creative helped me relax so on and so on. I use to think it made me work better (I was a stone mason) and faster. After not smoking it for 15 years I know it was the drug making me think that way. The truth was I was just a f@#@ing stoner!!
Forest - I have 2 friends who have giant grow warehouses in Denver. The majority is grown in dirt. There are plenty of shops who take debit/credit. Look up Sweetleaf.
Forest and others who have and no longer partake have credibility with their perspectives based upon their own personal situations. But thats just their perspective. Just like alcohol, pot affects each individual differently.
Those who never have and think they know the score are just plain ignorant with a dash of self-righteousness tossed in, and apparently proud to show it. I know plenty of lazy, stupid, worthless losers who don't drink or smoke weed. I know people who smoke regularly who are highly educated, supremely accomplished in their professions, happily married, good parents. I know productive citizens who medicate with it rather than with "safe drugs" like opiods and anti-depressants, and they claim it has changed their lives for the better.
The "mile in the moccasins" axiom applies here for those who are quick to judge and so sure they are right.
Well ok..... I guess a farm animal thread will cycle through in a decade
Copperman, not me personally. But you've dealt with many like me. You just don't know it because yous see a normal upstanding nice guy and in your head you'd never associate him with being a marijuana smoker. In truth though, we are all around you in your every day life. We respect law enforcement, we are responsible and we take care of business like any decent person would do.
I can't believe this thread is still up. Maybe this forum needs a new topic category.................."STONERS"
Ignorance is bliss!! I make no bones about why I smoke now. Yeah when I was younger in the 80's smoked a lot of pot to just get high. I also was a real good athlete and I worked my butt off at all I ever did.(Oh andbow hunted harder then most) Now later in life I smoke to help with the joint pain that was created by my pituatary that overdosed my body with huge amounts of HGH which in turn destroyed my joints.(just like injecting steroids, but I did not know what was happening until I started to change physically) I have no problem with folks who choose not to smoke, but I do have a problem with people who preach to others on what they feel others should do!! Think what you want but science is now proving there are many medical benefits to marijuana just ask some chemo patients!! Scooby
At a hotel here in Denver flying to Dallas tomorrow. Had nothing to do so I just called 25-30 pot shops. None can take credit cards legally. Debit cards from Colorado State banks can be used. All have ATMs. Most shops have both hydroponic and organic pot. Hydroponic is cheaper and stronger. Organic or "top shelf" is more expensive.
"Had nothing to do so I just called 25-30 pot shops."
I wish I had your kind of time in my hands Forest.
^^^ You're really just making things up at this point.
Here is a little known fact about pot and Colorado.
Pot has created a huge housing problem on the Front Range. Since it is considered 'drug' money, it cant be put into banks.
So, all this cash is being spent on houses that come up for sale. Then they re-finance the equity and... poof, the money is 'laundered'.
I think ya'll would be surprised to know the people next to you in the woods, at church, in the office ... when they go home, they surf porn, drink heavy, smoke dope, have affairs, lie/cheat/steal ....hooked on opioids, prescription meds ...
most people have demons when nobody else is looking
if smoking pot or ingesting pot is the worst thing you're doing? you aint doing bad IMO and this is from a guy who's never done any illegal drugs, no tobacco etc
marijuana isn't the devil - its very beneficial, very few side affects, all natural .... there is NO WAY a person can argue to keep cigarettes and tobacco that we have legal and not also allow pot. NO WAY
I am sitting here at work reading all of these post and showing it to a few coworkers we are all literally belly laughing at some of these replys
You aren't making any sense. "Hydroponic is cheaper and stronger. Organic or "top shelf" is more expensive." Why would something stronger be cheaper? The majority of it is dirt grown and there is places that take debit AND credit cards.
Be careful out there guys.... Ed F
Ned might be in trouble. He stated earlier that he likes Cheetos!
Hey man just cuz a guy likes Cheetos doesn't imply he likes weed. Or garlic chicken or big burritos.
Ed, that "entrapment" photo is a classic!!
I transport Explosives and Haz-Mat, no way I am smoking it up!!
Funny thread Brad--haha
Good luck, Robb
I know I am just about zero fun with this comment. Lungs don't like concentrated smoke of any kind. Tobacco...marijuana...mobile home....inhaling the byproducts of combustion directly into the lungs is a formula for lung damage. I've seen plenty of old smokers (tobacco and weed) who have reduced pulmonary function and live a very compromised life when they age. Because I value my lungs (and other organs) and because plastic O2 nasal cannulas are so unhandy at full draw, I have never/don't/won't smoke anything period. It's a lifestyle and health choice for me.
My neighboring county experienced 8 members of one family murdered in one episode a year ago. They turned out to be weed growers. Murders are still unsolved. I'm not in favor of the weed culture where I live.
I'm not a pot smoker but there sure are a lot of good songs written about weed. From Black Sabbath to NWA and every where in between.
As Huntman once said on this site.....So much drama in the LBC.
So much drama in the LBC.....it's kinds hard being Pat Lefemine?
I view pot smoking the same as mechanicals. Why use something that gives you poor performance and little penetration and can make you unhinged. ;) But don't get me wrong I could care less if you use either and would still share a camp with you guys. I will say all the users I know that do it on a daily basis are lazy. Not unintelligent, not uneducated but to the man they are all lazy mostly immature and still living their high school years while they are in the 30s.
Speaking from personal experience, I smoked in my younger days. Thank God and a stern judge, I got away from that lifestyle. IMO, I can show you more lives that have been ruined by pot than have ever been helped by it. Another point is, it's still against federal law. If you're using it, you're breaking the law, federally and in most states. If you condone breaking one law, what about others? Shoot an animal without the proper tags? You say no, but who knows. I'm no saint by any stretch, I no longer even drink. It could have cost me everything. I know it effects people different, but why risk it? My life is fulfilling enough that I don't feel the need for anything that alters my true self.
I don't and won't. No need.
I used to supervise in a manufacturing plant. Same group would leave at lunch to go smoke weed and the first two hours after lunch they made more mistakes and were less productive than any other time of the day.
Ok, its 4/21. Time to move along to other stuff you don't approve of.
Do I Partake? Nope but not to be Hypocritical, I did in my youth. Last time I was in Jamaica with a bunch of beautiful people, I got high and fell asleep and when I woke, the Ladies were putting their tops back on! Seems they decided to play a game of "Top-Less Volleyball! Last Time!! Oh to be fair I made a bunch of money last night selling food to those who did Partake!!!!
4/23 is National eat dog poop day. Do you partake? 4/24 is National send money to guys named Mike. Do you partake? If everybody is doing (it) then it must be great! Not! We have a National (day) for everything but doin right! This is just another reason why our country is goin down the crapper! Mike
I don't know if I should be indifferent, upset or elated that some of my visitors are potheads?
Not sure why stoners think non stoners can't have an opinion on ganja.
I guess never having tried any drug (or even a cigarette) gives me little credibility with the 4/20 crowd. I have been drunk a few times but I'm sure that doesn't count and I did date a stripper in college and she once did a line of coke on the dash of my 1984 Ford Fiesta...
Oh, And by the way, the reason I got the date with the hot stripper was because I had my sh&t together. So take that all you junkies.
I'm 54 now and tried it several times in Jr. High School, High School and college. I hated it. Made me want to go to sleep. It's been a long long time and will never do it again. Dumb IMO. I hate being intoxicated by anything. Love being in reality.
I guess all the pot smokers are sleeping in.... This thread makes me think about Ricky Williams, Heisman Trophy winner, arguably one of the most talented running backs ever... What does this mean? Probably nothing, just remembering him... Ed F
Yeah Ed, Ricky WAS a great one...then he smoked it away! Can you imagine the greatness that is lost to drugs now?
Pat, glad you weighed in. Knowing you had a stripper snort coke off your dashboard just raised you up a couple notches on my scale :-)
IMO, it's fine for "never haves" to have an opinion. But some of the stereotypes are pretty comical. Sort of like the same stereotypes many anti-hunters have about hunters, who as we know, kill only for pathological reasons, are domestic abusers, and get thrills from watching animals suffer.
Ricky's greatness was sacrificed because he couldn't pass the drug tests, not because of the pot.
And then there is my friend who has two PhDs, is one of the renowned technology developers of our time, brilliant scientist and engineer, who partakes almost daily even in his late 50's.
This is why the stereotypes crack me up. I lived in a world of highly-educated high performers in Silicon Valley uber-technology. Not stupid, lazy, stoner drywallers, but the brilliant people who invent the software and hardware we all enjoy daily. Many of you would be very surprised at the number and caliber of high-achievers who enjoy toking recreationally.
I'm not defending pot. I know firsthand how it can be abused. But just as not everyone who had a beer at the P&Y Bowsite social was a chronic alcoholic, neither are people who enjoy pot all raging stoners or worthless, lazy "potheads".
I'm glad they brought Twinkies back....
Hmmm...what was the question? Oh s**t! It's the 21st!!! Man that was some good weed. Lost almost two days...oh well time to munch on some Doritos.
Good point Pat, strippers always make good life choices! Hahaha.
"Ricky's greatness was sacrificed because he couldn't pass the drug tests, not because of the pot."
but your not defending pot.....so we are good :)
"strippers always make good life choices"
They are just trying to put themselves through college.
Pat, did you get some p:::y at the end of the night? Cause that would make it all worth it!
Maybe some of those brilliant uber computer stoner Gods should spend a few minutes and fix bowsite and leatherwall.
I get high. Usually around 14-18'. Always use a safety belt.
No I don't partake.
Lou, I don't care who smokes weed and who doesn't. My question is, how do all these highly successful professionals you know get by with smoking pot?
I tried it in high school and didn't care for it, but even if I did like it, I wouldn't have been able to smoke it.
Every decent job I ever had, I was subject to random drug tests. I've taken at least a couple, sometimes quite a few more, every year since 1990. How are these guys holding jobs?
I guess if your running the place you can skip the test?
I personally don't have an issue with it if someone wants too. A lot people I respect and don't respect do it. Like others I've seen both sides of it. I believe it's a moderation thing like anything else. I have personally seen people lose great careers and $$ in my industry because of it though. It can be a costly mistake for sure.
One last comment for the people that are concerned about smoking it and how unhealthy the smoke is. If you were really informed you would know that today, edibles are the way to go. It lasts longer and has few if any side effects. Please stop condemning something you know little about is all I am saying. Here is something to make you think, the doctor who performed my brain surgery and who is one of the best if not the best in transsphenoidal surgery in the entire world has been known to puff quite a bit. Scooby
Jaquomo gets it. Some posting here are clueless.
Painting all cannabis users with the same broad brush is naive. There are successful people in all walks of life that use mj responsibly. It would not surprise me at all if your doctor, minister, banker or someone else you trust on a daily basis is a user and you don't even know it.
Patdel, in high technology there is so much competition for talent that drug tests generally aren't part of the process. There is a tacit understanding that many creative types do it. Some companies have a pre-employment test, but most don't. Nobody looks for a "job". We are constantly recruited by other competing companies.
People are judged by performance, not by what they do at home on their own time. The performance bar is set very high. The salaries are very high, even at mid-levels. At my last company, a large publicly-traded Silicon Valley video technology company that is responsible for everything we see on video somewhere along the line (TV, internet, movies) our CEO joked with me at breakfast one morning that if we did drug testing we wouldn't have anybody working for us who was any good.
Here's a little poem for ya'all
Woop De Do and Rooty Toot. We are the guys from the Bowsite Institute.
We don't smoke and we don't chew and we don't hunt with those that do.
You may think we have no fun. We don't :)
That was pretty funny.
I could care less if one partakes on some Mary Jane, so long as it's done responsibly.
Cnelk, I buy a can of Copenhagen every year when I head out on my annual elk hunt.
Brad... I dig your poem, dude. Right on!
You see how trashed out downtown Denver is from the 4 20 event?
Forest - yes. Tell the rest of the story. The trash was all bagged up and some vandals scattered it all in the middle of the night. The police are looking for the vandals now.
Downtown Denver was trashed after the Super Bowl parade. We should ban football....
After today...... I'm "partaking" in something...... a lot of it too.... and... i have to work tomorrow... again.... and can't hunt this Sunday..... rats....
Every time you smoke that crap you weaken the nation.
Dang a bunch of drug addicts on bowsite trying to defend their addiction. What the hell is this world coming to?
Richard Pryor settled this a long time ago
I dont "partake"... can't say I never did. Been a long, long time though. I also don't drink... can't say I never did. Been a long, long time though.
The problem in my opinion is... people do mind altering substances because they like the way it makes them feel. So, they want to do it more. First monthly, then weekly, then daily, then all day. Until its a problem. Applies to lots of things. Pot, alcohol, cigarettes, sex, bowhunting, whatever.
It's not my place to judge, everybody makes their own choices. I couldn't care less if you want to partake. God bless Willie Nelson.
Well said sfiremedic. None of my business what makes you happy and none of anyone else's what makes me happy. A lot of glass house stone throwers have outed themselves on this thread.
I had no idea what "4/20" signified until the last few days when I saw a bunch of people talking about it.
Never have tried MJ, or any other drug, in my lifetime. No intention of starting now.
I bet it's been 15 years since I have participated. Too many drug tests for work now days.
Dont imbibe, did forty years ago, though. Have been away from it for a long, long time. Been subject to random drug testing at work for the last ten years. The fact that I dont smoke is one of the factors to why I was able to qualify for this job.
I dont use any drugs at all and barely drink a bottle of wine each month, maybe only two beers each summer. Perhaps if I end up with a medical condition that it can help, after I retire, I would consider it.
I never smoke pot or tobacco for one reason only, my lungs. I was a runner from 12 years old up to 60 when my knees gave way. I now bike. Also, I am a singer in a studio band. Nothing but air goes into these lungs.
Pat, a Fiesta? damn bro, even a stripper can't make that look cool.
I was never a stoner, but I love my beer too much (rarely drink anymore) I've been a State gov't employee for 29 years, looking forward to retirement. As I tell my manager: "I must pee clean, 'til 2019!"
LOL @ Fuzzy!
It'd make guys (and a few gals I'll bet) wonder what Pat had going for him because it definitely wasn't the car, and depending on the time frame, not the hair either. :^)
"And this crap has to do with bowhunting how???"
Good point...we should get back to politics. Oh wait...that has nothing to do with bowhunting either.
I had to watch my old man being given opiates for years to ease his arthritic pain. Then on his deathbed, writhing in pain, while they continued to stuff him full of opiates, and shoot loads of morphine under his tounge. Had I thought about it at the time I would have driven to CO and purchased some consumeables to help ease his pain. For that I would have gladly broken the law.
Good luck with getting a decent job. Companies still drug test. Not that the potheads would care about that.
