Two Blade Quartering Shots?

Switched two years ago to a Strickland Helix 100 grain. Three pass-through shots so I was impressed.
Skip forward to spring turkey this year. I shot, and hit, a big tom in the back. And, I kid you not, my arrow skipped off his back. He was facing away from me, and maybe the angle was funny, but I found my arrow 100 yards past him in the dirt after making that loud "thwap" during a hit.
Just wondering if it was a fluke, or if there have been others that have had this happen?

Sometimes strange things happen. My son shot a carp last year (bowfishing). The arrow hit the carp in the head and bounced straight back about 4 feet. Killed the carp instantly, but zero penetration.
That Tom may have moved at the last instant and changed the angle just enough to deflect the arrow. Lots of things happen after releasing an arrow, and our brains can't record stuff that happens that fast.

If that design didn't work, I doubt many others would have with whatever that particular hit ended up being. I have "skipped" arrows off turkeys hitting them a little high or low.

Similar thing happened to me last year, too, using a fixed blade. Was your turkey moving away from you when you shot? When they start moving they lower their head and the back angle increases substantially from when they are standing still. My shot was on a gobbler that was moving away and it hit dead center in the back and looked perfect, except that it wasn't. Only thing that makes sense is that severe back angle combined with the broadhead hitting with the blades in a vertical position, causing a deflection.

Fixed blades are known for deflecting that's why most people choose mech heads. lol, that's for ohio ;)

More than few turkeys have been hit with a 12g blast and then regained their feet and ran off.
