Interesting. Yesterday I could view all of my Utah points for all species. Today I cannot and it says "Eligibility will be available by Wednesday, May 31". Never saw that before. Anyone ever see this? No credit card pre-hit yet either.

Just checked mine and my old mans and got the same thing. The last few years I have been able to see before my card even was hit if they wiped my points out. Keeping our fingers crossed for Bull Elk this year.

On top of it my Amex card was compromised last week and they replaced it. Does anyone know if Utah calls if there is a problem with the card? Now that would really suck to get drawn and the card not be able to process. I called Utah and they said too late to change cards but they contact folks with issues. I hope he was right.

Interesting: UTAH just told me via the help line that they will allow up to July 19 to correct any credit card issues. That's pretty liberal and how other states should do it. Because of fraud they canceled mine last week and re-issued. I would have been pretty ticked had that cost me a tag. Doubtful to draw, but sure wouldn't want a card issue to be the problem.

Don't fret if you haven't been charged or called yet. At a minimum, I'm guaranteed a general archery deer tag and have nothing pending (have more points than required).

SteveB: that's weird because if you have up until July 19 to get your credit card issues straightened out then that means that a person could "hold" a tag for almost two months before paying for it. Like a rain check or a layaway plan. Normally businesses don't operate like that when their product is in high demand.
I thought that if the CC wasn't good that they tried to call you several times and after that they issued the tag to the next in line. It doesn't make sense that they would hold a tag without a payment when there is another person that is next in the draw willing to pay.
That sounds like a mess if Utah does it that way. I'm not trying to upset anybody but the "layaway" tag sounds like a terrible business plan.

My card was compromised as well when I called last week they would not allow me to update it.......... After I badgered them and begged they still would not accept my new card number.
They simply said they would call me if a charge failed. Other than that they would not commit to anything.

Elkstabber: just passing along what the agent told me. I was surprised as well. I think it may be because in order to be this far in the process we did have a successful charge back in February. They know there must be some weird card issue at that point.

Just talked to an agent and she said the draw started Wednesday at 5 PM and would take 2 to 4 days.. Faster than I thought. She told me to start crying on Wednesday 24th if I hadn't heard anything..

Just got hit for my general deer season tags. Guess one of these years I'll have to just accept the inevitable and attend the Western Hunting and Conservation Expo to buy a premium tag. Doubtful I'll ever draw anything worthwhile unless I do. Big shout out to Sportsman for Fish and Wildlife for that!

It's official now. I just drew a general archery deer tag. No LE archery deer. Ugh. Frustrating. I'm off the elk waiting list starting next year so now my deer points will sit in limbo and decline in value due to point creep. If I can apply for elk...I'm going to. Oh well. Going to make the most of it and accept the challenge.
Zim, maybe our spouses can start a business together, make some cash and we can carpool to the Expo together!

This is confusing because YZF-288 said that he draw a general deer license (8th in draw order) and Sticksender said that no one has drawn the OIL tags (4th in draw order).

I try to remain positive in my social media posts but at the same time I don't want this particular issue to fall by the way-side - it infuriates me. Ron, are you doing Book Cliffs or Henry's? My friends dad drew last year in the Books with 22 points. Super fun hunt and we got lucky and could get the truck to around 100 yds away......still took 4 of us 3-4 hours to get it all cut up. The bull we got was all by himself; if you hunt the herds you'll have company and it's trickier than it sounds to pick a good one with 60 others and once someone shoots they scatter faster than you'd think. Opening morning we had 3 different groups on one herd. Only one group shot and honestly I think they shot the 1st one they saw and it looked like a calf to me, but I was 500 yds away.
A friend of mine and I put in as a group for general deer on the North Slope of the Unitas (4 pts total, so 2 a piece). As a resident it's been pretty much every other year for archery deer. We'll get OTC elk tags too, when they become available.

My son drew the early elk tag by mistake on the Paunsaugunt. Put in for the wrong unit and drew the random tag with just a couple points. Never even considered it for elk, just deer. But after looking into it, we are looking forward to the 1200 mile trip in sept! It looks to be a very tough hunt, but this will be his first elk hunt. There must be some descent bulls there since folks are burning 17 points on it lately, Guess we'll see how it goes! If anyone has any helpful info you can message me. Thanks!

5575 depending on how many points you burned you may want to consider turning that tag back. If it's the early rifle hunt you might be ok. My Dad and I have archery hunted it several times, and I live an hour from the unit. It can be a tough, frustrating hunt. If you do keep it, feel free to hit me up i would be happy to help out or at least send you in a decent direction.
