As I understand it, there are no herbicides approved for use with buckwheat. I was curious if anyone had experimented with a grass or broadleaf herbicide, and could share their experience. I planted an acre or two a couple of years ago, didn't get a great stand, and the weeds choked them out. I have a bag I plan to plant this year and would appreciate any advice.

ARROW (Cleth) should kill any grass weeds in buckwheat. You are out of luck with post emerge broadleaf control in buckwheat. In the future a 3 pre-emerge approach will keep the fields clean as a whistle (a yellow, a PPO, and metribuzine)

The few times I have planted buckwheat it shot out of the ground so fast there was no competition from grass or weeds. Was putting it in a mix and it sure outperformed everything else. I think i was putting it out with some beans and sunflowers. Deer would always let it get to looking good and then come in and devour it in no time.
