Lets see some Africa stuff I have 54 more days to wait!
You have much to look forward to! Africa's a big continent, where are you going?
South africa by steenbokpan and some free state
Here's my best trophy from the Steenbok Pan area, a 13" + Warthog taken in 2012. Good luck on your hunt, I've been Jonesing to go again this year!
Marvin
Hey Marvin, you can come with us. We are leaving in two weeks and have only three in camp. You met the others at the Sheep banquet last year. Plenty of time to get a ticket (Maybe). I know you have a favored place already though. We will be thinking of you when we are after those Sable.
Any bush pigs I want to spend some time after one this year

Zebrakiller, here are a few to get you fired up!
Did you hunt bush pig over bait at night?
Zebrakiller,
Nearly all of our bush pigs are taken over bait at night. On a rare occasion, it is possible to catch one in the bush in daylight heading to or from it's bedding area. However, that is not typical.
We have a fantastic ranch up in the Waterberg mountains on concession where we do most of our bush pig hunting. It is usually planned on request, and we set up a couple of different hides over bait many days prior to the hunters' arrival. Trail cams will tell us which baits are getting hit and we go from there. Over bait, the success rate with both rifle and bow is very high.
thank you Firehuntfish, My PH knows its on my list and one Im really after, sounds like he is planning about the same as you say, I have a bunch of African animals already so I want to go after a few hard ones and different ones this trip thanks for your replies,
You mentioned in your PM that you were also going to another province to hunt Black Wildebeest. Here's a picture of mine that I took spot and stalk on the open prairie (highveld). Although there are trees and rocks in the photo, he was in the complete open grasslands when I shot him. He was actually the very first animal I saw as the sun came up on my first day, first trip to Africa, and I successfully stalked him the next day. There were larger bulls, but they were in large herds that were very difficult to stalk in the open. This bull was by himself. The winds were pretty strong, so I had to be able to get pretty close to be able to make a high percentage shot in the wind. I believe it was a 25 yard shot, and to this day he is one of my favorite animals to have taken.
O my lord , that is a great black and awesome story, what a way to take a true trophy! congrats
Az-Rich, where you going this time?
This hunt will still be in the Limpopo area on various properties I am guessing. Same outfit your friend(s) and you had gone with in the past. I am curious to see how things might have changed since 2011. Regardless, we will have plenty of fun!
P.S. Thanks Zebrakiller, any luck wished for is always greatly appreciated and needed on this hunt.
Some nice trophies posted. Cool looking bush pigs.
Just got back from African Barefoot Safaris.
Waterbuck wasn't even on my radar until about 3 months before we went. This guy ended up being my favorite animal of the trip.
Here's one for motivation for ya, Rich!
Passed on these two. PH is still probably in disbelief !!
Another one that got a pass.
Thx t-roy I remember you sending that sable pic before. It's still motivational! That one was on his the main property as I recall? I know they took a 44 incher last year but not sure what property. I hope this one you pictured is still roaming his place but I don't recognize the water trough. Henne's farm maybe?
Good luck and be safe Bill!
Not sure the name of the farm, Rich, but he was probably within a mile of the older lodge.
Those Bushpigs are some evil looking critters. Good luck Bill.
46 days , shooting, shooting and more shooting I will be ready for what Africa brings
I've got 397 days until I go back. I can't wait. I just hope I have enough money to shoot some stuff :)
this Cape Kudu picture has become a favorite of mine.
Beautiful markings on your kudu, Bake! Did you do a shoulder mount of him?
I'm having a corner pedestal mount done for the kudu. I don't expect to see it until early next year. He was beautifully dark caped. Can't wait to see him again
Very impressive gentlemen! Africa has always been a dream of mine! Maybe some day:)
My warthog was my first animal in Africa

Still have 6 more hunting days to go!
Still have 6 more hunting days to go!
Well I'm over here now beginning day 4 of our hunt. Doing Kruger before was fantastic. I took my sable on the second day since we ended up constructing a perfect bush blind on day one and had to let things settle down there before using it on day 2. Heart lung shot and he still ran 170 yds. Very tough animals. 43" on both horns with 10.25" bases "green".
Nice AZ congrats, hope the rest off the safari is as successful! Keep me posted
Hell of a Sable!!! Good work. Best of luck... carry on.

Thanks, I'm happy. Also took a zebra and gemsbok on day four. Yesterday I had to mercy shoot a warthog with a snare tight around the muzzle trying to drink. Sad to see this is still so common almost anywhere you go over here.
I like the pics with your bow and the animals, congrats
Good shooting. Nice Impala, my favorite African animal.
