Hey Everyone!
I thought I would throw up a few images and a video from my time at Pine Acres this spring. I used this outfitter because of the reviews that I found on bow site and thought that it was fitting that I put up something to potentially help someone else out!
This was my hunting partners and my first bear hunt and we both shot bears on the first evening. I think that there were 10 bears killed the week that we were there including on that would have eaten the on I harvested. Our wives and kiddos made the trek with us and were happy to have us tag out so quickly and we spent the remainder of the week fishing and seeing the local sights.
Overall, our group had a great time on this trip and I would recommend Pine Acres to anyone else looking to do a semi-guided bear hunt!
Attached is a little video I put together from our trip!

That was a fun week!!! Took your first opportunity at a bear so could spend time with your son and the whole family. Worked out great for you and your family and rest of your party. Congrats!!
Very Cool! Congratulations!!
Great video and awesome pics! Congrats Jeff!
Cool, thanks for sharing. Forrest
Congratulations! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks everyone! It was a great time and I was thrilled with the bear I shot but next time Im holding out for a giant!
As a side note, does anyone have any great bear recipes???
How about some info on location and basic cost of this hunt......if you please.
Congratulations on a great trip with your family!
Loved the video and the pics.
Alaska at heart
The hunt was in Vermilion Bay, Ontario and was considered a semi-guided hunt. We were set up in a 4 bedroom cabin with running water and were a short drive away from some good fishing. The cost of the hunt was $1450 and the tag was a couple hundred more. We also paid $400 for our wives and children to be in camp with us for the week. I hope that answers what you were looking for!
Thank you......that was what I was looking for.
Congrats on the Bears, glad u had a great time. Them Bear and walleye r good eats for sure.
Congrats on a great hunt but also the great time spent with family! Very cool!
That's awesome! Great job and video. I love that your family could come with ya'll.
That's awesome! I'm headed up to see Chris here in a couple weeks with a bunch of guys, but going to bring the family up with me for another trip here in a couple years:). Congrats on your first bear! Hoping to get my first here in a couple weeks!!
Thanks everyone! It was a great all around experience and we hope to go back at some point!
Jeff...did you pull a boat up with you, or did you rent one up there, and if a rental, approximately how much did that run?
Jeff brought up his own boat. A boat and motor rental is $85.00, plus gas. 14 ft with 9.9 motors. If you bring your own boat all lakes have boat ramps. All smaller lakes. Chris.
"As a side note, does anyone have any great bear recipes???"
Take one backstrap, a charcoal grill, couple of beers, and 4-5 minutes per side, and Voila'! Little salt and pepper is all that's needed to round out this simple, yet delightful, recipe! Far as I'm concerned bear meat is good on it's own, no need to doctor it up to taste like something else.
BTW, congrats on the bear, sounds like an awesome time!
Treat it like pork. Cook well done!!
Well done is too done. May as well eat your boot if you cook the life out of it. I've been cooking medium rare for years and so far it ain't affect affect affect affected me...but I know what you're saying, too.
How does a "semi-guided" bear hunt work?
There is setting up bait sites, setting up stands, getting to/from the stand, tracking the bear, field dressing the bear, getting the bear out of the woods, butchering the bear, dealing with the hide. Which of those tasks do you have to do?
Semi guided.... after guide shows you your site, hunter then takes over baiting. Guide supplies bait to rebait.....hunter drives from camp to bait site with his own vehicle.... hunter skins own bear... Stand is set up before you arrive....guide will help in tracking with help of hunters... sometimes a hunter will track dress and retrieve his own bear. Much of your success depends on the hunter. There can be a BIG price difference between semi and fully guided. Semi guided is not for everyone.
*** Fully guided means guide will take you to your stand each day with his vehicle and will rebait for you. Skin your bear, much of your success on a fully guided hunt depends on your guide.
