I attended the annual state wildlife expo yesterday. NuFletch Archery had a booth at the expo. I met the owner of NuFletch Archery and he explained (or tried to) the theory or principle behind the NuFletch APE System. I read all I could find about it on the internet and watched Youtube clips last night. Basically, the APE system requires that a shaft be shorten by about 2 1/4" and the APE system. This conversion would effect the shaft stiffness and may require a complete change in shafts. Also, the change would impact a change in FOC. According to the person I talked with FOC is not really important and the APE System is optimum with a 2-3% FOC.
I have had the privilege of hearing four presentation by Dr. Ed Ashby who is considered the guru of FOC. NuFletch APE System goes totally against the heavy FOC which makes more sense to me than extremely low FOC.
Has anyone, other than Tom Miranda who advertises for this product, had experience with this product? The subject and FOC principle that this product incorporates truly intrigues me. If Tom is lurking this thread, would love to hear his input.
Needless to say- I didn't buy the product even at the "show special" price.

Don't guess this is a well known topic or people just want to talk about it.

I too thought this product to be counter intuitive related to FOC. Miranda did chime in at some point in the past and swore he really liked the setup (i.e. not just a sponsorship thing).
Still, to me this product seemed like a solution looking for a problem. Just don't see any benefit over good ol' fletching.

I have tried it. My reason was I thought it would be great to transport arrows without fletching then assemble them at my destination. Also, for carrying extra arrows on a backpack hunt. Those things worked great but I could never get my arrows to tune great with the APE tails. I ended up using mechanical broadheads in order to get my hunting arrows shooting right. I was mule deer hunting so I was willing to switch from my usual fixed heads for that hunt. I now shoot standard fletched arrows with fixed heads and they tuned great. Maybe I could have made them work if I had been willing to keep working on it with different arrow combinations, but I wasn't.

Interesting topic. I too find it hard to believe that this is an improvement. I can see the convenience factor being nice but I'm not convinced in the area of performance.
