Many of you know Dan Reardon the owner of Rockin R Ranch for his archery elk hunts and Wounded Warrior hunts.
Dan also has a couple leases which have some great Mulies. He set me up on one of them and I hunted it on my own and got very lucky yesterday am with this beauty. So blessed. Thanks Dan!
PS: Good luck and safe hunts to all! C

Great picture too.
WOW!!!! Very nice! Congrats on a doosie!
Congrats Charlie on a great buck!
Any idea on his score? I am watching one identical to this and I am having a hard time with a score simply because the fronts are hugs and the backs not so much? Around 170?
Congrats Charlie! That's a great buck.
The general consensus is that you shot a great buck. I'll agree with that ! Congrats Charlie !
Congrats. I'll be hunting public in that unit later this month. Hope you pushed them all off private.
Congrats Charlie! Well done on a beautiful animal!
Congrats Charlie! The whitetails are probably starting to get nervous;-)
Big thanks to all my Bowsite buds. One of my best days afield.
RutNut: Not sure on mount yet. My wife says I'm done but maybe just one more as the velvet is way cool:) Might do a velvet euro.
Shrewski: I'll post a few more pics as I think I have one from the front. I am not good enough to stalk these Mulies as it is super dry here in SW Colorado and very noisy. I found bedding/browsing areas and set up in Scrub Oak patches surrounded by open areas. Then it was wait em out. Patience.
SitO: Can't seem to find any retail outlets here in SW Colorado:)
Joey Ward: He probably weighed 250 live weight. I will age the bottom two teeth with www.deerage.com. I'm thinking he's 4.5 or 5.5, great mass.
coelker: I green measured him this am and with the velvet and shrinkage he'll come a bit less but the gross is 179 7/8 net 172 7/8. Main beams are 27 inches, inside spread is 21 7/8 inches and there is 40 3/8 inches of mass. He's a beauty for sure.
Charlie, if you need a place to hang him, you can put him on the other side of the woodstove next to his younger brother Good job, Chuck
Shrewski: Front pic. I took my field photos with a tiny tri-pod and my iPhone.
Here's my "Bowsite appropriate" photo:)
Howse about a few details of how the hunt went down?!
Had a few does come very close. Does with fawns were very on edge but does without fawns were very relaxed.

t-Roy: I had been seeing quite a few deer in the same general area multiple times but could not get close so I set up in a 20 yard diameter scrub oak area with open areas all around, cut shooting lanes and waited. At 8:00 am on the third day I saw a buck about 100 yards away then another and another and another. They were browsing along without a care. I lost track of one of the smaller bucks until we both looked at each other at 20 yards. He spooked and ran back to the other bucks but they eventually relaxed and started feeding again. The big guy walked broadside and I ranges him 3 times and had a great release. I knew he was hit hard but he did travel almost 400 yards before he went down. Personally I believe my best option was ambush and waiting em out.
Great muley congrats Charlie.
I hate you!!! :-) Congrats on a very nice buck.
Well done Charlie! Congratulations!!! On your own to boot!
Beautiful buck Charlie he makes us all hyped up. Congrats.
Oh boy he looks just as good from the front as the side. 180 bucks are pretty awesome; I'm jealous! Sounds like a great hunt.
Damn nice buck C-man!
Congrats
Good luck, Robb
Grats Charlie! Great buck!
400 yards! Good tracking. Looked like high lungs. How far was your shot Charlie. Great buck!!
My son and I were on a hunt near Grand Junction and arrowed some nice deer too. Congratulations Charlie. Gary
Above is Jake's first mule deer and this was mine. Very pleased with our outfitter.
Congrats Charlie, he is a great buck!
I went back this am to the seen of the crime and found the bottom 2/3rds of my arrow.

I then checked out where I cut up my deer and left the carcus. 48 hours and nothing but stomach pile and bear scat. Zero bones!
Dream buck....congrats, C!

Heading to Kansas in the am. The disabled hunter/youth Whitetail season starts Saturday 9/2 and I'll be meeting/helping my paraplegic friend who will be hunting with Forest Bows. Regular archery starts 9/11 so I'll hang there then come back to SW Colorado for the Wounded Warrior archery elk hunt with Rockin R on 9/19. Lucky boy I am! Thanks for following my Mulie hunt.
Congrats Charlie on a well deserved and tasty trophy!
Congrats, very nice Charlie.
Congrats to the other two as well!
Congrats on a great buck!
Congratulations Charlie!!! Awesome deer....I love hunting mulies through all you guys on here, hopefully I'll make it out there myself one of these days.
Great Deer Charlie, congrats !
Beautiful buck, many congrats Charlie!
Charlie, nice seeing an old timer being successful. my best, Paul
Right on HTC! Congrats he's a dandy!
Put a good lick on him too..... those "V" shots.... I bet he didn't go far.....
Nothing is wasted in nature, that's a given...... bears, bugs, assorted varmints..... even the bushes have to eat....
Wow great buck!! Congrats Charlie

Thanks again everyone. I'm in Kansas now helping my parapeligic friend (fell from a tree stand 13 years ago) get his archery buck. He could hunt this special hunt with any weapon but is using a compound. So inspiring to see his drive. Good luck all! C
Wow!!! Well done Charlie! Couldn't happen to a better guy. Congrats buddy:)
Hippie! Taking flower pics everywhere you go!
I stripped my Mulie rack from last season, had it measured for P&Y Club entry as a hard horned then had synthetic velvet put on the rack.
I understand Western guys don’t like synthetic velvet but I like the look and particularly how it will look in 10 and 20 years. Thought I’d post a picture of the finished euro!
Looks good Charlie! I like the velvet either way. Have a couple of velvet mounts that are pushing 20 years old and still look good with the real stuff, but I am out here where it is really dry and no bugs!
That looks pretty darn good Charlie. Better that any other fake velvet job I've seen. I killed a buck in the same status last year and was nervous about bad looking fake stuff, so I had it stripped and stained. Your pic makes me wonder if I screwed up.
Wow! That synthetic velvet does look impressive.
Congrats again, Charlie!
Looks great, Charlie. Enjoy!
Nice euro! How old do you figure he was. Quite a bit of pronounced beading on the bases.
Would you post the score for us that appreciate numbers?
Thanks again guys. I'm hoping I draw that tag again this year.
Ambush: www.deerage.com aged him at 7.5 years old
Official Final score was 168 5/8, Gross was 175 4/8
Wow Charlie, that’s very nice! Congratulations!
Looks great Charlie, such a great deer, congrats.
Congrats again! Great buck!! If you were like any of the super stars of today they would say that buck is over 200” haha
Grats Charlie! Great buck
Great looking Euro Charlie. The velvet doesn't look fake in the least to me. Stud buck!
Congratulations Charlie, great buck and pictures! Good luck in 2018, hope you get a repeat!
Awesome Charlie!!!!
Congrats!!!
Mark
Nice buck! It came out great!
Looks good Charlie, and best of luck in this year's draw.
For Charlie and anyone else that has had a rack re-velvet'ed. How real does it look? From say five feet away. I have a euro from a buck that was just about to lose his velvet when I saved him the trouble. I ended up just cleaning it off, but never got around to staining the antlers. Might be cool to do that instead.
If your buck had grown a one inch brow on his driver's side you'd have had a near perfectly symmetrical score with that and the extra H1 and H2 mass measurements.
I'd be happy to have a crack at a buck like that every year!!
That came out real nice! I like the look. I bet you're happy.
Awesome!! Curious as to how much the synthetic velvet cost to apply? Shawn
I know all you do anymore are euros, Charlie. Would there ever be an animal you would consider doing a shoulder mount of?
Perhaps if you ever killed a whitey as big as Matt’s!?! ;-)
Charlie - you are gonna have to build an annex for your "Fred Bear " Museum of mounts and trophies! Nice Mulie and Velvet! Jmp
Looks great... congratulations... and you’re just waiting for the form to come in to mount it right?
Shug: My trophy mounting days are pretty much over. I’ve got some nice representations of various species and have to factor in the extreme burden of “family taxi dispersal” after I’m gone:)
t-roy: If I get one bigger than I’ve gotten to date I would likely just switch out the antlers with one of my current mounts. As stated above I just can’t see more mounts at this stage. Been very lucky in the past.
Shawn: You can google “synthetic velvet” for costs. There is a difference in price and quality. Generally there is a flat fee and per inch charge.
