Last year I went to British Columbia to call and chase moose for 10 days during the usual best dates of the year and never shot an arrow. Almost 2 weeks ago I headed to northern Alberta to try something different. I sat a water hole many many miles deep into the wilderness from sunrise to sunset. After 7 consecutive days, 13 hours every day, I had yet to see a bull. 2 hours into my sit on day 8 this one came by, and I couldn't be happier that he did!!!

That's awesome John. Congrats. Though not physical, those types of hunts are BRUTAL.

I should add, I went with Trent Packham and Groat Creek Outfitters out of Whitecourt, AB which is about 2.5 hours NW of Edmonton. It was a 6 day hunt and Trent had mentioned, "you should be done with your moose in about 2-3 days so get a bear tag and we will chase those for a couple days after." Well, by the end of day 5 Trent was stressed and pulling his hair out. He told me to stay as long as I could or as long as I wanted, it will happen if I keep sitting in the stand. He felt terrible I hadn't even been offered a shot. He's not a run them in and out and get the money kind of guy. I was the only one in camp and he cares about his hunters. I could only stay two more days and I am glad I did. Trent works his tail off, he is the outfitter, the guide, the pretty much everything except for his wife Christy is the phenomenal cook!

Congrats, nice sticking it out. Most would have quit after the 6 days were up. Kudos to your outfitter for offering to extend your stay.

So many times I've wanted to just pack it in and go...... but it's happened the last minute several times.....as long as you are in the field..... only good things can happen.......

Perfect. Congrats on hanging in there, not sure I could have... A lot of work, but a satisfying reward for sure.
