Hunting has been tough this year...I've only been able to squeeze in 2 sits this year and both times a had to get down at prime time to go to be with my dad. He's been in and out of the hospital for the past 9 months and this last Thursday the good lord ended his suffering and pain and called him home. He wasn't a perfect father, he made mistakes like I'm sure I have (will). He taught me the meaning of hard work, the love for the outdoors, respect and honor. He will be missed and I hope to talk to him when I get back out to my stand.

I'm sorry, it's a very hard thing to lose your dad. Try to remember that he's not suffering any more. My condolences.

Went through it 5 years ago and it's still hard.

I know the feeling. I lost my dad on Dec 23rd of last year. Time numbs it but I still have very difficult days. We did everything together, hunt, fish, golf....I was blessed to have him so long. Hang tough.

Condolences. Good of you to look past his flaws. When you're having that talk in the stand, don't focus on your own. Stick with the work ethic, love of the outdoors, honor and respect. Seeds for life.

Sorry for your loss. My Dad is still with me but just doesn't have the drive to hunt or fish anymore. He just sit's pretty much all day. Hate to see him that way. I sit a lot with him just reminiscing. Maybe this year I can give him a few more memories.

Sorry for your loss. Hopefully some of the good memories of your times together will bring some smiles to your face while you think about him while you’re hunting this fall.
