After all the help and information on the scent control thread I did something for the first time ever last night. The wind was switching and eventually turned and was the wrong direction. So, with 1 hour left in the evening, I bailed out of the stand so I wouldn't get busted if a deer were to approach the field where I was sitting.

As I walked out, I saw a doe and fawn. The doe caught movement so I took a slow knee and nocked an arrow. 20 minutes later, she made a circle around me and got to 40 yards before catching my wind. It was fun but the best thing was that I was not in my stand when this happened and I didn't mess a spot up for later this season.

It was not easy to bail out, but I knew I needed to get out of there if I didn't want to mess things up for the future.

Wi teacher, you're disciplined better than most. In some areas I'm lucky enough to have couple of stands 100+/- yards apart for this very reason. It beats going home early. Gene
