In a tree for the next week and a half. I am doing the most urban of suburban hunts. I am 100 yds from a major mall parking lot in the tiniest little woodlot you ever saw. Roads on all sides. I’m here because last week I saw a giant leaving this piece chasing does, and I know does bed here because no one ever comes in here. Never been here before, walked in in the dark and picked a tree. Saw a flying squirrel while looking for a tree. Been years since I saw one. Sitting all day. Scrapes everywhere.

Just had a deer snorting at me. Ugh. Also realized I didn’t fill my water bottle, but I have enough for the day.

She came over looking for me. Walked around for 10 minutes trying to find what she saw. Eventually moved off. Single horn spike cruised through, nose on the ground. I’m 20 yards from thick bedding area.

Little spike cruised back through. Now I’ve another little buck chasing an doe and two fawns around.

Action has slowed, but I’m staying put. I have about 6 does bedded in the thicket to my north. Only a matter of time till a buck cruises through to check them.

Just saw deer down the hill by the parking lot.
These deer should move north in the evening, which is away from me. Just have to hope for a cruising buck.

Decent 8 point just chased a huge doe by me at 35 yards. He was grunting and dogging her. She was bigger than him. 2:30. Gotta love the rut!

I’ll shoot a doe now that it’s later in the day. The one that 8 pt was chasing was a giant, probably dress 130.

Giant doe 80 yds through the thick stuff. Behind her there is a buck chasing a doe.

I can see a 4 point chasing does around on a huge open hillside/lawn about 500 yds away.

Just passed doe at 25 yds. Looked at that deer for a minute with binocs and could not tell whether button or doe.
5:10. Turkeys are flying up to roost.

20 min of daylight left. What an amazing day in a tree! Could not have asked for anything more.
