***We offer a "SEMI GUIDED" hunt. Semi guided is when the hunter supplies his own transportation to and from sites to camp. Baits are from 1.5 miles to 55 miles from camp. Hunter skins own bear and helps in the tracking and retrieving. Bait own sites after baiters show the sites to hunters. We supply ample bait through out the week. Hunters cook own meals. These reasons mentioned are why price is $1450.00. Semi Guided hunts are not for everyone.
***A guided hunt is where guides supply transportation, skinning and bait the sites for you. Meals included. These are the reason for higher cost of guided hunt. $2700.00 and up.
Thanks Alex and Ibow. Your bear outfitting Alex, always seems to get it done in early May. You have good success all through the season. I think you are in the "Sun Belt". Good luck to you and your family and I hope you have an awesome season!!! Chuck (IBOW), have a great hunt with Alex at Desjardins Outfitting!!!
Thanks Chris... always a great time at Desjardins. Can’t wait to get up there again. I just really enjoy the pics you & Alexis post on your spring & fall (and winter) threads each year. It’s always more than just the the trophy pics - you guys always tell and show more about what goes on behind the scenes and what goes into a successful hunt.
Thanks Chris your guys have good success at your camp also, that’s beautiful country u r at that last pic themold beaver r trying hard to block that road raskals.

So yes, this above post is of just another Spring Bear hunt to most of you but it was only our second in 19 years!!!
Ontario opened up a " Pilot Spring Bear Hunt" in 2016. Going to last until Spring 2020. Then the Province will take all the data and do a study on the 5 years of spring hunting. In 2021, they will decide whether to keep the hunt or not keep it. So, Spring 2020 might just be the last Spring hunt in Ontario or it might continue. Who knows what the Ontario Government will do!!!
***Data released in Fall 2017....In Eastern and Southern Ontario the "harvest" for 2016 *RESIDENT* bear hunting was over 5000 bears. In NW Ontario the resident Harvest was about 465. We are in the NW part of Ontario, about 1200 miles from Toronto. **VERY FEW residents** bear hunt in these woods in the N Western part of Ontario. NW Ontario "Non resident" bear hunters took over 1650 bears. So more Non Residents parttake in Bear hunting in the NW than residents.
***Ontario Outfitters are regulated as to how many Non resident bear hunters they can take.
*** the Ontario Gov up dated population estimates says there are approximately 105,000 or more bears in Ontario. Still the 2nd highest bear population in Canada!!! 2nd to British Columbia. Quebec is running 3rd at about 75,000 or more bears.
We'll be at the Grand Rapids Michigan " Ultimate Boat and Sport Show" next weekend March 15th to the 18th.

Idea is to start baiting when snow nearly disappears. I'll get all the bait mixed, new treestands put together, vehicles and ATV's serviced for the Spring hunt .
Hunters don't want to put up with any snow as they just went through a cold, snowy winter. So I book later to give them better odds for an awesome, Spring Bear hunting experience.

Got back yesterday with a load of bait from "LUCKY SEVEN BEAR BAIT" of Cambridge Mn.
He gets truckloads of bear bait delivered to him daily. Pellets....barrels....or totes. Loads onto your truck. He even has trucks delivering to Ontario at the end of April. The more orders delivered on the truck to Ontario, the lower everyones delivery charge is.

Have new trail cams for the spring hunt. I find the bear has a hard time biting this model of cam. Pops out of their mouth when bit. Have over 40 cams to watch over the baits
Looking good Spike! Your guys are going to have a great spring and fall! Love these kind of pics. The story behind the hunt. So much work but fun to see what’s going on now!

Thanks Chuck!! Hope the spring 2018 thread isn't too boring. Start it up when I put out the first baits.
Chris... between you, Alexis & Mike Ukrainetz, once it gets going, I’m like a kid on Facebook checking your threads almost hourly. It’s not just your spring and fall threads here, you guys are the BEST as outfitters!
Best wishes for a terrific spring - if it ever gets here! TERRIBLE here in Michigan. Can’t imagine what it’s like up there in MB & ON.
Ibow, I also click on "ALL" the outfitters threads. Nice to see the great work they put forth and success they are rewarded with!! Alex Desjardin is an Outfitter I would like to meet. He has such a great attitude about everything!!! When I am at shows I talk to a few of his hunters and they have GREAT things to say about him and his Outfitting!!
Thanks Ibow, its above zero here each day, but not much. Good thing is we have not been "Blessed" with any `NEW` snow since last of February. Melting each day here.
Also, we are lucky to have Bowsite.com to allow us outfitters to show case our hunts, day by day. Pat has such a good setup for pics etc. .I would recomend Bowsite.com to Outfitters who offer archery any day!!! Sponsorship is well worth it. Thanks Pat and C. for allowing me the opportunity!! Chris.
When do you anticipate to start baiting Chris, you had said mid-April?
Ya I did say around April 15th. But start date is on Friday April 20th. We have 5 days of double digit temps starting tomorrow finnally. We have a couple of areas that have been plowed all winter for logging operations, which will give us access. Still 18 inches or more snow out there might need snowshoes. Will give the baits plenty of time to get active. We are chomping at the bit right now. Cant wait!!!!
We will be setting up baits tomorrow for our 2018 Spring season. Was 53F today with warmer temps tomorrow. I will also start my new thread on our 44th year of Bear Hunting at Pine Acres Bear Camp after the days done.
Good luck to ALL other sponsors and their hunters!!!
