Just completed an adventurous mountain lion hunt in the Ruby Mountains of Nevada with Canyons West Guide Service. I booked the hunt on an on-call basis with hopes of good conditions any time between late December and the end of January. The hunting area was plagued by unusually warm weather and a lack of snow and I was thinking that my time was going to run out when a storm popped up in the forecast and I headed west.
The storm was a day late but after a couple days in the hotel we found ourselves with perfect conditions and turned the dogs loose on a good track as the sun was coming up on my first day. The chase took us a couple thousand feet up, and the weather turned quickly from blue sky to blowing snow but we ended up with a great tom and an experience I’ll never forget. 13 hours after we started we were back at the truck, exhausted but ecstatic. Here is the day in pics....

Thanks guys. I took the advice of one of the guides and picked up a pizza and a six pack after getting back to the hotel. This one seemed appropriate to celebrate the occasion. After 2 of them it was lights out. An incredible day that I’ll never forget!

Dave took another guy out yesterday and killed another great Tom. We checked the two in with The Department of Wildlife. My Tom turned out to be 7 years old.
