Results are up for the Alaska drawing posted. Hooray and boo for me.
I drew an antlerless/cow moose permit!....yay!
For the 29th year in a row I did not draw a Buffalo/bison permit. I also did not draw the caribou or bull moose permit I wanted.
I am happy to have a meet/cow moose permit though!!
Great. Congrats on the moose!
Boom, hunting Moose again...Whoot!
My 2 best friends...a hub and wife each drew a caribou permit!
Moose tag for me. I drew the same tag in 2009 and the wolves ran the moose out of the area. So, THIS happened:
No LE sheep tag for me .....
Drew a caribou tag and a archery cow tag for Fairbanks. My dad drew the same moose tag and delta bison. My gf drew the same caribou tag as I did so it will be a busy year
Hunt Code Winner? DM892 Yes Oh Yeah, Its on! Better than Christmas morning for a 6 year old.
Sugarfoot, DM892? I want in on the excitement.
Right now there is enough excitement to go around.
The DM stands for Draw Moose I think. Anyway it is a Moose tag in a darn good area.
Hey Sugar, that wolf above is from DM892! (that might suggest it is also the tag I drew)
I don't know a thing about hunting Alaska. Why would a non resident apply for caribou there ? Can't you hunt for caribou without a guide over the counter there ?? Are the draws for better limited draw areas ??
"Why would a non resident apply for caribou there ?" that's actually a really good question
"Can't you hunt for caribou without a guide over the counter there ??" Yes
"Are the draws for better limited draw areas ??" No
My buddy drew an elk tag! Unbelievable!
Steve! you're doing a rain dance on my Parade. I'm the same guy who went elk hunting in Montana in 2012, gonna catch the migration of elk flooding out of Yellowstone, like shooting fish in a barrel!!! That's when I learned what happens when you let the wolves manage the elk and moose heard. I'm still happy about my draw though, I've been there before also.
"Hunt Code Winner? DM892 Yes Oh Yeah, Its on! Better than Christmas morning for a 6 year old."
That might be a lot of fun, I'd love to hear how it all goes, best of luck!
"Steve! you're doing a rain dance on my Parade."
Nine years ago--that was a LOT of time for the State of Alaska to thin some of those profane vermin!
Steve, best of luck to you this time sir! At the very least we will be hunting in Alaska, and it really doesn't get any better than that.
Looks like mtn goat for me! Hopefully I have time for salmon and bear as well!
After 7 years finally drew my caribou tag!!!
One of my friends applied for 30 hunts and did not draw a single permit!
He'd have been better off applying for 6 hunts, 6 times each I think.
It is a lottery, some win, most lose.
GEEZ Steve..... looks like you trained that beast how to lay down and be good..... heheheheheh..... I'm thinkin' Pete in Fairbanks might chime in with what medicine some areas need for the moose...... =D
Good luck buddy. Hope you have to work your azz off after you have all that fun.... =D
Sugarfoot, did you receive a letter from ADF&G? DM-892 permit holders and maybe other subunits in the Koyukuk area received a letter requesting we consider not hunting in these areas for the next several years as the recent moose kill has been too high and the cohort producing the crop of bulls we would be targeting is expected to be low for several years. They say that the younger crops of bulls are fine and the quality hunting should return when those bulls mature. Sure would have been nice if they would have sent the letter BEFORE the drawing!
