Interested in advise for Aoudad hunt south Texas. I've read both opinions as low success rate to easily can get 30-40 yard shot. Don't want to be disappointed but looks like great hunting experience.

Two very different options-far west Texas and central Texas hill country. The ones out in west Texas are extremely tough to hunt on big empty ranches. Central Texas you can shoot them coming in to corn feeders from a box blind at 10 yards

I've only hunted Aoudad once, so far from an expert, but spot and stalk with a bow would be extremely difficult. The terrain is typically quite open and they have great eyesight. If you have a place where they are coming in to water/feeder then you'd have a much better shot with a bow.

I checked out the Bow Ranch website. Its south central Texas. Not sure how rough the terrain there but sounds like plenty of Aoudad and maybe a hog or two.

The bow ranch is a good place to shoot one from a stand.
Treeline nailed, but it still isn't easy! Been 5 times and shot two.

As Treeline mentioned above a lot depends upon the property and how you intend on hunting. It can often be super tough harvesting aoudad with a rifle spot and stalk! Many TX ranches use feeders which is often a matter of sitting and waiting. Either high fenced or not it can be super challenging harvesting an aoudad with bow spot and stalk!

Justin, any aoudad with a bow - spot and stalk in that rough, rocky, noisy, prickly west Texas country is an awesome accomplishment. Bumpin' 30" is kind of comparable to a 180" whitetail.
Good luck Forest! Hope you get a big one!

Go Forest!! And send some pics as you progress. Maybe the first ever "Live" Aoudad hunt on Bowsite!?!
Aoudad is a hunt I probably could afford and would really like to do. WAY cooler than the other sort'a feral sheep, goats. ( to me anyway)

Totally doable up in the steep rocks if u are in shape. I had multiple close encounters on bedded down rams. None were big enough to shoot but loads of fun.

As far as eating goes therte is huge difference in nannies as table fare and rams. Nannies arent bad. but Rams stink,as does their meat, and are tough. And they are actually more closely kin to a goat as I recall. Anyway after two rams, I sort of quit hunting them, and took up chasing free range axis instead for my off season pursuits as all axis I have taken have been extrodinaly to eat .They remind me of little elk with their roars etc..ps big Congrats to Forest ...great Ram...

Meat tastes great, but is tough as a board. I grind EVERYTHING as burger, even backstraps. It is very mild and top notch table fare so long as you take care of it properly like all game meat: skin, keep clean, get cool/cold ASAP.
Between me, my hunting partner and our kids we've killed/eaten over a dozen free range Barbary sheep from ewes to big rams and they've all been great.
