Cabela's card hits don't show on the website when it is a pending charge. You won't see it until its no longer pending. You can also do a little math and figure it out. If your available balance is less than the difference between your credit limit and your balance you likely have a hit.

Bigdan I used a chase card and I had to call and ask the operator for any pending charges. Luckily enough had a $1300 pending charge from azgfd so elk tags for me and my son!!! Good Luck to you in the draw!

I have online accounts set up and Credit Card Apps on my phone for all my cards with alerts set up with thresholds. As soon as a pending charge over a certain amount hits for any of my cards I get an alert and text showing the dollar amount and vendor making the charge. Makes life easier than constantly checking or calling for pending charges.

There's been 3 elk tags I've seen that seem to have gone with less or the same points as last year. Pat drew 5BS with 11. If there was significant point creep, he wouldn't have drawn unless it was a random tag. I'm guessing not.

Crazy number of non-residents seem to have drawn this year, but I don't know any resident friends that drew, including myself. And I thought I had enough points to be in the max pool. I usually have a fair number of friends that draw that are residents, but so far none this year.

IdyllwildArcher: the credit card hits take very little time. 15 minutes tops. In previous years, later hits came from rejected card holders after the department called for another card. They no longer do that. Also, some of the later hits were pending charges that became actual charges a few days later. Thus fooling people into thinking they just got a hit.
This draw is over. It was over on Friday, about 8am Arizona time.

I'm worried because I had a one day insufficient balance before a deposit came in. Will they try again if that was the day my card was used? Or they just reject your application without retrying?

David, I think it depends on the timing....the instructions from AZ G&F were that your card must have sufficient funds or credit available to cover the cost as of 11:59PM on March 1. If your card can't process the charge your app is rejected without retrying.

Regarding whether they will re-try your card if there is a problem, below is the fine print at the bottom of my online receipt from AZ G&F after submitting my elk application...I interpret that as you only get one chance for your app to be processed.
"Online applicants are encouraged to keep their credit card payment information current. If your payment is declined at the time of the draw, your application will not be drawn. The Arizona Game and Fish Department will no longer call customers to obtain payment on drawn applications where credit cards have failed. Deadline for updating your credit card or debit card information online is 11:59 p.m. (Arizona time) Thursday, March 1, 2018. "

Some of you guys are putting way too much confidence in Arizona's system. Last year my cc was hit for elk tag amount. When the portal was updated, it showed elk unsuccessful, and successful for a rifle pronghorn. I put in for bonus point only on pronghorn. Action from AGFD, no elk tag, no pronghorn tag, a refund and excuse that computer made error.

There is no language stating funds need to be available on March 1, only "at the time of the draw", which was on March 2, and they back fill after that.

I drew an Elk tag. I don't know which one, we put in all 3 choices and probably didn't have enough points to guarantee any of them. I'm amazed that year after year someone keeps giving me an elk tag. Friends call me Lucky.
