This is a photo of an old photo. My first ever experience with a Vortex broadhead and executed a perfect 51 yard shot. The person behind the camera was Stephen's dad, Dennis, and the inventor of this great head. So many great memories from that hunt!

Instead of more animal pics, here's some of the heads that made them dinner. This head killed a raghorn bull out of a treestand. 80lb bow and easton 2317 arrows. I released early and like slow motion, I saw the arrow flying and was picturing the long day ahead. The arrow hit and the bull dropped like a rock. The arrow snapped off and was forgotten. As I was splitting the elk with my saw, I hit something in the spine. It was the broadhead. You can see the cut marks on the insert and the tips of the blades. That represents center of spine. The bent tip is where the head was sticking out the other side of the spine. The vortex nearly decapitated the elk.
From: hunting dad
29-Mar-18
This is an assortment of blades, post animal. You can see a few that are bent from hitting bone. None have ever broken. The blue vortex solid was buried in the opposite shoulder of my Alberta moose.

Hunting Dad said and showed it well, the Vortex blade may bend but they just don't break....and a bent blade will continue to cut!
From: Ward's Outfitters

We bent this blade on purpose to show that they don't break. They are designed to bend and not break unlike most other Mechanical Broadheads.

What do the entrance holes look like?
From: Matt
31-Mar-18
Generally a 1"+ hole similar to what you would see from a COC head. Closed profile of the old style was 7/8", but the hole in the hide tends to be a bit larger.
From: hunting dad

31-Mar-18
Matt, Did you use them for elk?
From: Matt
31-Mar-18
I have killed at least a couple of elk w/ them, but I prefer COC heads for the bigger game (elk, moose) due to my shortish DL.

Vortex 75 grain 2 inch cut aluminum body. This was before the ALL STEEL 75 grain 1-1/2" cut.
Ground Hunter It doesn't take that much energy to open them. If you remove the o-ring and put the head on an arrow with the broadhead on a solid surface and spin the arrow the blades will flash open. The o-ring actually rolls hair up and for an instant the arrow shoots through the o-ring until the hair is ripped out. The 0-ring can also be used as a penetration indicator. Usually with a pass thru the o-ring will end up in the middle of the fletching (if the o-ring has not broken during the process.)

I'm not trolling I'm saying this to be funny because I know you guys have better pics than these!! trophy size? horn size? it mean's nothing here,,,,,,,,, this is a vortex thread so where's all the huge holes and huge blood trails,,, turkeys with no heads? this thread showing off a big cutting head is pointless with the exception of maybe 3 photos so far.....right now it looks NO different than a "G5 kills" thread... Vortex is a big broadhead? so lets see some big scary holes and lots of blood all over the bushes and ground !!!! 8^)
