Lightning CAN Strike

I hear a lot of guys complain about NM Game and Fish. Heck, I'm one of them right now because the draw is done and they won't release the results! That being said. I wanted to explain why I'm a proponent of their draw system. Quite simply I have an equal chance from 9 years old to 90 years old. I drew my Desert BH in the Hatchets last year, and it was a childhood dream come true. That would never have happened in a points system. Guys that used to promote points systems are now complaining about point creep. Not an issue in NM. And let me tell you.....the health of the herd in NM is surpassed by no ither state. I saw it first hand. To have my dad and boys there. To shoot it on my father's bday.....and about a million other details I don't have time to share.....It was God's hand in it all. But as I wait for results for me and my wife and boys........I know first hand that lightning can strike.....
I think you pretty much summed it up why a no point system works best. God Bless
If New Mexico would get a handle on LO tags and scrap the guide welfare pool it would have the best draw system anywear. Even as if it is way better then most.
Nice ram! Do you have a story?
Couldn't be happier for you! Keep dreaming of new conquests. Good for you! Gary
Congrats on a great ram!!!
Mark
Great ram! Congratulations!
Definitely helps to be a resident in NM for the hard to draw tags. Odds for NR's and the costs are horrid! But someone has to get lucky for sure!
NM is one that I quit playing due to their NR policies and outfitter welfare.
Thank you all! I will put together the story tomorrow.
Congrats! A rare and such a great experience.
Nice sheep, but God had nothing to do with it (other than creating the sheep of course;)
Ditto.

Yeah, but hey need to do away with the outfitter welfare BS... JMO
Lightning can strike. New Mexico has been good to me. As a NR I have had a OIL Oryx tag and a desert sheep tag in the last eight years. They are the only tags I have ever drawn and I have a pile of points everywhere. I like everyone being equal. When we wonder why new hunter numbers are dropping all you have to do is look at the odds of drawing a high quality tag if you were just starting out today.
Shot with a rifle. First rifle hunt in 15 years. Literally but my bow down all year in preparation.
"Yeah, but hey need to do away with the outfitter welfare BS... JMO"
Unfortunately it will never change. It's very easy for politicians to give away money. But trying to take away any entitlement and they will cry like babies. Even if it's breaking the state like unsustainable Illinois state employee pensions & welfare.
"......the health of the herd in NM is surpassed by no ither state."
Which has ZERO to do with points or no points.
I drew an Arizona DBHS tag in 2010 after only applying 6 times. Lightning CAN definitely strike! I now have more points to try for a Rocky tag than I had when I first drew Desert. Hoping it can strike twice!
Good Luck guys!
Nick,
Keep at it and you will draw!
I have a friend here in Reno who's drawn both a Desert Sheep tag and a Rocky tag in AZ as a NON-RESIDENT!
Drawing a Rocky tag in Az is easy. Got it on my first try. Hehe. Come on Heat!!
22 points and counting in AZ...
NvaGvUp............I simply meant that NMDGF does a great job of managing their herds in addition to having the best draw system out there............sour grapes......pick a new handle
By the way.....it struck again. My son got a RM BH tag this year.......best Draw hands down.
