As the weather is starting to turn, my thoughts drift off to warm sunny May evenings in the bear stand. But as I look outside I am reminded that the lakes still have 4 feet of ice on them, and I can't help but reflect on my "off season." What do you do in the "off season?"

Nice trout! From the video, and withit looks like you also play hokey
Do a lot of fishing when not working. Spend a lot of time researching hunts for applications in the western states this time of year. Also practice shooting and scouting hunting areas.

My local lake got to 12" of ice this past winter. There was open water most of the season where I normally ice fish. I can't imagine there still being 4' out there.

Yup, I used to play hockey, but it was an old baseball injury. I can't wait for bear season, but these antis sure love to hate my last bear video, read the comments, kinda crazy.

Pig hunt year around except for turkey season and then I hunt turkeys. I fish some but live 200 miles from trout and even further for smallmouth which are my preferred species.
Much of my pig hunting is passive scouting for deer.

Spring turkey, sit on a hill top and shoot groundhogs, I fish some but not like I used to . Often I take a stroll on our property and do little touch up jobs to get it ready for the fall ....trim a little brush, inspect stands, etc

Good video! Well put together! Great bear! Congratulations! Wish we could hunt spring bears here in Colorado but the antis killed baiting, dogs and spring hunting back in the 90’s.

If I'm not hunting or fishing, or working on my horse farm, I spend my time making turkey calls. I always enter several decorative turkey calls in the annual NWTF Grand National contest each February.

Nick, it sure does suck losing a phone, but at least they can be replaced, and kinda funny to watch if you got it on video! Gotta love the "off season," it looks like some of you enjoy it as much as I do.
