I have a gator hunt booked for September. Would like to get some ideas for lifesize mount.

Here is one we had made. It was my wife's idea, actually. I think this one was right at 6 feet overall. Obviously it wouldn't work for a big one.

A few suggestions. The price goes up apps potential he buy foot not just because the Alligator is longer but the price per foot increases by the foot. Bigger alligators are for bigger ego‘s but amounts are just an ugly green. The younger ones are much prettier and much more colorful much cheaper to mount and much more practical as far as how much space they take up

Some things are just better left photographed and filleted. Lol

I can just see my wife suggesting that.... in an ice covered Hades!! ;^)

When I finally get a gator (Son is going to college in Louisiana where my Daughter also went) I'm opting for the beetled skull. Might splurge for metalized skull keeping the teeth white. My old neighbor had a Monster Crock Skull in a glass case, and the 16' skin on his wall.

bghunter, I don’t have a photo of the mount I’m thinking of, but it’s somewhat similar to this one, only wall mounted and more of an upturn to it’s head. It’s surrounded by splashing “water” and has a lifesize 130” Florida whitetail in it’s mouth. I think it was an 11 foot alligator, and it’s an extremely impressive mount.

Put a wild boar in its mouth !! Then you can knock out 2 animals that most wouldn't mount !!!

I killed a nice gator a few years ago and found myself with the dilemma similar to that of every farm dog. "I love chasing trucks. But now that I've caught one, what do I do with it?"

I ended up with a beetled skull, AND a pair of custom made boots, with matching belt and knife case. At my age, those boots will last me for the rest of my life.

Plus, when I wear the boots and belt, I always carry a snapshot of myself and the dead gator. Great cocktail party conversation starter.

Haha Pete... Of course you carry a photo of the gator, who wouldn't!? Too funny.

Bpm, I like the mount and something similar I had in mind.

Pete, Not really a cowboy boot guy, but the idea of maybe a belt a holster and a mag carrier might work. Thanks for that idea

Y'all have some very interesting mounts. Here's a simple floor mount that we had done on Millie's 9'6" gator. In retrospect we probably should have just tanned the hide and had the skull cleaned and bleached. The reason is that this wasw one HEAVY bugger to move when we moved from TX to TN.

LOL hope you get a big one

Pete....hopefully you had a wallet made as well. Makes the tie in even more impressive when you whip that wallet out to show em the pic!

19-Apr-18
T-roy,

After having a pair of custom made boots made, I don't need a wallet, because I have no money left!

BGM I like the realism of the gator but IMHO your taxi could have done better with the girl. Should'nt she be in the gators jaws or at least screaming in terror? ;>

Inshart, I'm hoping that "Three Fingers" was referring to the quantity of liquor consumed after he tagged an animal, and not his nickname because he got his hand too close to the gator!!
